Move to new name?
editThe currently given name "Salar ud-din" looks improbable. In view of the long-overdue but very welcome references which have now been added, it might be appropriate to change the article's title to "Salahuddin Abbasi". Any comments? SamuelTheGhost (talk) 14:41, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- i was thinking of that. probably someone with urdu knowledge would be able to clarify. my guess is salahuddin abbasi is some sort of family name. The last nawab of bawhalpur (the subject's father) is also referred to by the same name. Shall we post this on wikiproject pakistan noticeboard and ask them to take a look.?--Sodabottle (talk) 14:47, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- Of course I have no objection to that if you think it might yield any useful information. I was motivated by the fact that to the best of my knowledge (which in this context is mainly of Arabic), "Salar ud-din" does not exist as a name, whereas "Salah ud-din" or the equivalent "Salahuddin" is a standard Muslim given name (originally an honorific). But I'm interested in your information about the subject's father. Shouldn't that go into the article (preferably with a source)? SamuelTheGhost (talk) 15:04, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- Is this or this or this any help? I'm getting the impression that the subject of this article is the same person as the last nawab of bahawalpur (born 1946), rather than his son. But I might easily be mistaken. SamuelTheGhost (talk) 00:27, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
