Talk:Need for Speed: Carbon
Changing Rotor4
editI hope nobody minds, but i am going to change the info about the Rotor4 crew. currently it has listed that they drive exotic cars, when they actualy primarily drive Mazda cars, hence the name.
Wii to the platforms list
edithttp://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?cookie%5Ftest=1&product%5Fid=230022 and IGN has reported it too.
adding Wii to the platforms list, if nobody has a problem with it.
Can somebody get a picture of the logo (as seen on the official page)?
NFS: Carbon Release Date
editI know that there is a disclaimer at the top of the page about Information of a speculative nature, but I feel that the release date should not be stated as being 1st November 2006 just because EBGames says thats when it is coming out. The product hasn't even been Officially anounced yet... rewording...
The above comment was by me Pretender2j 06:04, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Unofficial Carlist Edits
editRemoved Dodge Viper and Toyota Supra as they have not appeared in official screenshots. The videos do not confirm anything as they can match several cars.
What happened to the seperate Official and Unofficial sections under the Carlists heading? ALOT of the cars that are now in the 'Official' list have not been confirmed to be included in Carbon. The citation for the carlist is a news piece on the official NFS website which clearly does not mention alot of the cars that are on the list. *(If no one has any objections I will be changing the two lists back. Or if anyone else thinks it is a good idea I will rewrite the whole section to make possibly three lists, officially confirmed, confirmed by image/video, speculated.)* See below. Pretender2j 05:07, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Actually scrap speculated from the last sentence it's already seperate ;) Pretender2j 05:08, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
An even better idea, I'm going to move all Unofficial cars to speculated because as the Speculated section says 'Cars that have been seen in images or hints found across the Internet.' Pretender2j 05:14, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Palmont
editAdded with a link to the screenshot proving it.
Online Comeback for the PlayStation 2 version
editI hope they do not cancel online gaming for the PlayStation 2 version like Need For Speed: Most Wanted! If they do, Electronic Arts is going to pay the price and I do hope they put 2 more opponents like Burnout Revenge. Best Gamer
- Online gaming nowadays is a necessity. PS2 must have online gaming enabled all the way through, or sales of the PS2 version won't be that bright. — Vesther (U * T/R * CTD) 04:35, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Even though i don't have online capabillities, I think its obvious the online play is what underground such a success
Emanuelle citation
editI've put up a citation link regarding about this "Nikki" that Emanuelle play--very chilly plot I'm seeing. Is Emanuelle going to be playing an "evil chick" for the first time in her life? I'm thinking that Nikki is supposed to be evil (much like Razor was evil in NFSMW). Anyway, please check out the citation and tell me what you think. — Vesther (U * T/R * CTD) 02:16, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Be the cop
editI hope this NFS: Carbon includes something like Be the cop , as in NFS: HP 2. MarioV 22:43, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
I wish they would allow you to be a cop, too...and I still miss the old split screen gaming...comes in handy. the_paccagnellan 12:49, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
important features
editwhat i want to know is i have a positive feeling there will be police in the game to chase you, but.... Is the game going to be like the last two, free roaming capabillities, i only ask becasue i have played the demo and im worried because i can't see any evidence to sugest this, mind out that the demo doesn't show the main menu. There should be police in there because need for speed most wanted has a police.have you got burnout revenge? if you don't get it because it's quite good.POSTED ON NOVEMBER 16TH 2006.
anyone one that might know plz post back
I've got a hold of the game, and Yes, It is Free Roaming like the last two. Churba 16:16, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Electronic Arts' last chance for Online Comeback for the PlayStation 2
editIf Electronic Arts continue to avoid online gaming for the PlayStation 2 version, they will pay the consequences if the online is not set for the PlayStation 2 version. By the way, to be honest, I want anyone to know the difference between the PS2 version and the PS3 version. Will PlayStation 3 team up with PlayStation 2 or not? Best Gamer 12 September 2006
Porsche Carrera GT
editEr... don't get me wrong but the image for that car looks very much like a Porsche 911, rather than a Porsche Carrera GT. Or it could be the Cayman S. The Cayman S and Carrera GT are linked to the same image.
http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/image/article/727/727503/need-for-speed-carbon-20060823092303451.jpg would be the Carrera GT (on the right)
Exotic Cars is supposed to go over 200mph and cannot change body parts
editWhy would exotic cars must be upgraded? How come the exotic cars did'nt go over 200mph?? Please, give me an explanation! The exotic cars and concept cars are supposed to go over 200mph! Best Gamer 17 September 2006
They should make at least 1 bodykit available for the exotics. This would be the same bodykit used in the racing version of the specific car (eg. Aston Martin DBR9 aero parts for street DB9) --HashiriyaGDB 14:56, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Discusion page not for chatting
editI'm looking at you Best Gamer. If you want to talk about Carbon go chat with people at the official NFS forums . The discusion page is not for asking questions about Carbon, it is for discusion of the article it is connected to. It is also not for commenting or expressing your opinion of the game (or whatever the connected article is about). Pretender2j 04:04, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
I'm terribly sorry about that, Pretender2j. I fear that the exotic cars are supposed to go over 200 mp/h. You understand me, right? Best Gamer 18 september 2006
Yes, Best Gamer I do understand what you are saying. The thing is the cars can go over 200mph. The Porsche Carrera GT in NFS: Most Wanted can go 241mph maybe a bit more I have actually tested this myself. The Lambourghini Diablo can go 247mph. There are many other cars that are not exotics that can go over 200mph like the Dodge Viper, the Chevrolet Corvette. In future if you want to chat about something like this can you NOT put it on a discusion page, like this one. You seem like a smart guy cause you can work Wikipedia correctly so why not join up to the official Need for Speed Forums. Thanks Pretender2j 01:38, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Wait. When I tested out the Lamborghini Gallardo, it only reached up to 192 mph. What I mean that I'm afraid two things. Not all exotic cars can go over 200 mph and if Electronic Arts backstab the PS2 fans again, Electronic Arts may get in a dangerous situation. Also, the exotic cars' body kits are not mean't to be changed. Like in Midnight Club 3, the players can't change body kits because they're exotic cars, but changing rims are neccesary. Anyway, I'll go check out the forums. Best Gamer 21 September 2006
Are you sure about that? 192mph is only a bit over 300k\ph the Gallardo can go at least 340k\ph (with upgrades) which is more like 210mph. Maybe you didn't have a long enough straight? or you didn't use NOS? About the body kits, if you don't want to put a body kit on your exotic car you don't have to! If EA didn't allow you to put body kits on exotic cars there would be alot of other people complaining, the same way you are. The way they have worked it out is the best. They have body kits for people who want them, and if you don't want them you don't have to put them on. Oh and by the way, a REAL Lambourghini Gallardo can only go 196mph. Look at the Lambourghini website. Pretender2j 05:15, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Stock exotic cars don't always reach 200mph, even modern ones. The Gallardo is an example, as is the Maranello (199mph) and others. Many exotics do exceed 200mph, like the Ferrari Enzo, Carrera GT, Diablo, Ford GT, Saleen S7, Bugatti Veyron (252mph), and Chrysler ME-412 Concept (248mph+). The stock Viper (my favorite car) cannot reach 200mph due to aerodynamic limitation, but a new Viper goes into production this January which will likely be significantly more powerful. Are we talking about top speeds after performance upgrades, or stock, though? Don't forget that while many exotics are run stock, there are companies that do performance work on some of them. the_paccagnellan 12:57, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
Anything Else said that it is supposed to release the Need For Speed: Revenge, but this is one of his false rumors. There is no game called Need Fpr Speed: Revenge. I believe his jokes are badly ever been made. Electronic Arts never makes the game called a game that combines both Burnout Revenge and Need For Speed: Underground 2, plus Need For Speed: Most Wanted. I believe thhat his "brilliant ideas" became a harsh joke. Professional Gamer 3 November 2006
Actually, I am tired of "discussion page not for chatting" type posts, they are out of control. If someone wants to talk about the content of the article, it usually is because they have noticed something about the content that is not mentioned or explained. For instance, here, someone is talking about the game's accuracy to real life when comparing in-game cars to real life cars. If it is in fact not accurate, it should perhaps be mentioned or noted, and this is something that would have never been considered without the discussion page... therefore, maybe we should think about the "discussion" at hand and try our best to see if it relates to the article before we call someone out for having a nonsensical chat? Sceptical Release Dates
editI have heard two different release dates for Carbon, the 1st of november is the date from EA's official website, but I went down to my local game store and found out the they have been given the 3rd of november, Im pretty sure its obvoius now but the release will deffinatly be in november, ROLL ON NOVEMBER!!!! Story Outline
editI am suprised that no-one has added it yet bet I will write a brief story outline as detailed on the NFS website in this video.
About the edits I removed
editEdit by 220.245.248.70 changed 240SX to 300ZX when it is obviously a 240SX.
Aditions by 218.186.8.12 contain many unverified claims, that if included would need to be rewritten anyway. Due to these claims being fairly substantial in relation to major aspects of the game I am placing them here until they can be verified and (hopefully) rewritten.
There are no daytime missions whatsoever.
(the collision has been turned off specifically for those races).
However, instead of racing your way up the Black List by defeating 10 bosses, there are now only 4, each controlling a particular territory that you have to conquer piece by piece in street racing. Conquering territories will unlock better car parts and performance cars.
He returns as a bounty hunter to collect on the player's head after the events in Most Wanted. However, he will not be the main antagonist but will appear only in the first mission.
BTW NFS:MW has 15 people on the Blacklist. (for 218.186.8.12)
More Nikki talk
editWait a minute, given that Nikki is an ex, she was supposed to be an antagonist because usually when women break-up with men, they usually want revenge. I'm shocked by what the article dictates through its citations, and given that Nikki won't be an antagonist, I'm gonna have to check the citation if Nikki is not going to be an antagonist, because I was insisting Nikki to be an antagonist. — Vesther (U * T/R * CTD) 14:11, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Rumors and Speculation
editI highly appreciate if someone can help Wikipedia beautify the citation and make it an encyclopedical reference if by all means possible, as I have to say that the citation is nothing but vague at this time. Thanks. — Vesther (U * T/R * CTD) 01:27, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
300ZX or 240SX
editSomeone (220.245.248.70) keeps changing the 240SX to a 300ZX in the speculated cars. To me the image clearly shows a 240SX but I will provide so pics to verify this. Here is a 300ZX and here is a 240SX and then here is the image in question 240 or 300? I think it's pretty clear. If you (220.245.248.70) want to add the 300ZX then by all means do! Make sure you provide a citation aswell. Pretender2j 02:11, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
That's definately a 240SX next to a koenigsegg ccx
To Pretender2J
Look at the headlights on the 300ZX they are the same as the headlights in the screenshot. A 1992 240SX has flip up head lights.you obviously don't know your cars because it is so obvious that it is a 300ZX
From the guy who keeps editing the page PattersonChEnEy (it's obvious you don't know your cars, see below Pretender2j 12:05, 17 October 2006 (UTC))
But in Underground 2 you could change the lights and it would look exactly the same as this. The 300ZX is shorter than the car shown. Pretender2j 07:34, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Here is a 240SX from Underground Image You see that it has the same NON-popup lights. Pretender2j 07:43, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Also a 300ZX has a MUCH rounder front Image. The car pictured Image has a realtivly square front. Pretender2j 07:45, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
I have noticed something that proves undeniably that the car shown here IS a 240SX. Notice on this picture of a real 240SX that the bonnet and the front bumper meet inbetween the lights. Notice also that in this picture of a real 300ZX the bonnet and front bumper meet at the bottom (or top) of the lights. Now compare this to the image in question. It is obvious which car it is. Pretender2j 12:02, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
All of this is irrelevant now as the image in question has been replaced. Pretender2j 23:00, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Maybe it could turn out that both the 300 and the 240 are in the game?
Thats what I have tried to tell you. But you were the one removing the 240SX and replacing it with the 300ZX. Pretender2j 10:09, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
New Soundtrack!
editCheck out this! http://be-notorious.co.uk/
I think there's new songs!
Sorry its wrong I saw the Artist and Song...Sorry..
split screen
editI actually wish they would bring back "split screen" multiplayer racing. There are many instances when running NFS on a computer when it would come in handy. When did they stop featuring it? the_paccagnellan 12:59, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
That would be nice but, paccagnellan the discusion page is for discusion of the article not for general chit-chat. Why don't you have a look at the official Need for Speed forums and ask EASmoothie about getting split-screen put back into the game.
This is spilt screen though, only for Consoles. 121.6.176.228 03:43, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Neons
editthis is just to say that not many people know but there will be neons as some of the cars in videos have been sighted with that well known underglow, I will be very surprised if they don't have neons in this Need For Speed.
Prepare to be surprised - They're not in there. Churba 16:19, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Official Car Updates
editThe Xbox360 playable demo was released to Xbox marketplace and the 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo, 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR Edition, and 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS have been confirmed. As well as the 1999 Mazda RX-7 and 2006 Dodge Charger SRT-8.
Cross confirmed, be the cop.....?
editCross has been confirmed to return, but there still no news about being the cop mode, sorry NFSHP fans :'( (me included)
It has been confirmed that there wil be an online 'be the cop' mode but as yet nothing about single player 'be the cop'. Pretender2j 10:14, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Regarding the Audi Le Mans Quattro / R8
editThe car in the game is an Audi Le Mans Quattro as this is a different car to the production model Audi R8. There are some major differences that make the two cars different. The main one being the engine used. The Audi Le Mans Quattro uses a 5-litre V10 engine whereas the Audi R8 uses a 4.2 V8 engine. It would be like saying that a base model Porsche Carrera is the same as a Porsche GT3 RS. Pretender2j 02:34, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think anyone is debating the difference between the two cars. This is usually the case between concept and production. It should just be understood the Le Mans Quattro is strictly a concept car and is officially called the 2003 Audi Le Mans Quattro Concept as per official manufacturer press release. The R8 is the production version of the concept and is officially called the 2008 Audi R8. Roguegeek (talk) 00:37, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for catching my typo, Pretender2j, and changing "2004" to "2003". Roguegeek (talk) 17:28, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Some more info to prove it is the Le Mans Quattro in carbon, appart from the fact that EA says it is the Le Mans Quattro.
The image in question
A Le Mans Quattro Concept at the Geneva Motor Show
An Audi R8 the production car]
And this the Audi R8, based on the Audi Le Mans, which was a concept car at the 2003 Geneva Auto Show. From the Wikipedia article about the R8. Firstly notice the pronounced LED headlights in the Le Mans and then they aren't there in the R8. The car in Carbon has the pronounced LED headlights. Also the width of the side rear-vision mirror stalk, which is noticbly thicker on the R8. I don't have an ingame picture to show this properly but I'll post it asap. Pretender2j 00:10, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Handheld Version
editThe handheld version of NFS carbon will be called Need for Speed Carbon: Own the City. It should be made into a different article, because it is entirely different from the comsole version.
- I Agree. I just purchased the PSP version of the game, and it is only similar in name and general premise. The story, characters, setting, and wingman system are all different, and many of the car customization options are slightly different as well. If not its own page, at the very least I think it deserves a section on the Carbon page itself. 69.234.145.186 06:44, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Camaro, not Chevelle
editSomeone made the mistake of saying the game features the "new Chevrolet Chevelle SS." Its actually the new 2009(8?) Camaro, not the Chevelle. Im changing it. Scryer_360 02:46, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
System Reqirements and city details
editI have removed the entire Minimum and Optimum requirements for the Persaonal Computer (PC). It's of no pratical use to the article. You may want to post it on StrategyWiki. Also, edited the 'Enviroment' section of the article. Ken20008 11:11, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, hardware requirements are permitted, in accordance to the computer and video games infobox (see {{Infobox VG}} for list of available fields). We could put in at least the minimum or optimum performance specs in this article's infobox. It's very much underused in this respect. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 15:26, 1 November 2006 (UTC) ╫

Lamborghini Gallardo Nera?
editJust one question guys The gallardo that the rival No. 6 of NFS: MW was using is a lamborghini gallardo Nera, right?
Nah, just a 'regular' Gallardo. Pretender2j 06:32, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
But, i think we should check it carefully because, if we see that rival´s lambo, the ones who know about cars will notice that it looks like the lamborghini Gallardo Privilegio. Check the images, because I still think it´s not a "regular" gallardo.
Yes, it is, or why wouldn't it say so? The car that you would see in screenshots of MW is a Gallardo with a nonstandard body kit. That would be why it looks different. Where did you get these two names from anyway? Aside from the different rims the 'Nera' looks exactly the same as a 'regular' Gallardo. Same goes for the 'Privilegio'. How could these cars have been included with NFS:MW when the Nera was anounced over 7 months after MW was released. The 'Privilegio' has only just been anounced (as a 2007 model) nearly a full year after NFS:MW was released. It IS a 'regular' Gallardo. (please sign your comments) Pretender2j 13:31, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, I was talking about the paint job the car has, but thanks anyway.

Very bad article
editThis article absolutely sucks. It disgusts me, since im a NFS fan. The game is already released, do something about it, like highlghting game play points. Just model it after Need For Speed: Most Wanted's article and that will do it. Cut out all the pre-release, spectulation sections, pre release interviews, all those crap. I would have updated the gameplay info, but i dont have the game and wont risk it. Ken20008 10:53, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Watch your editing tone guys
editI probed the history of edits on this article and apparently for some apparent reason the criticism is just way too biased and the two sentences are way too harsh. Definitely be careful about your edits because some of the tone of your edits may be a bit too harsh, and it may disgust some readers, so I appreciate if you guys watch the tone of your edits. As always, NPOV should be observed, but please, watch the tone of your edits because some edits might disgust certain readers. This clickable link will tell you why watching your edit's tone is just as important as keeping the article NPOV. — Vesther (U * T/R * CTD) 06:21, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Ferrari Absence
editShouldn't there be a part about the absence of Ferrari's in the game? LSky 08:44, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
If you did that you'd have to add it to every game that doesn't have Ferrari's in it. There is no real basis for it thought, as there is a minority of people that are Ferrari proponents and also play NFS and would like to see them included. It doesn't rate highly above other peoples requests for various cars to be included in the game. Pretender2j 13:20, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes, but there's been a trend: Ferrari hasn't appeared in the Need for Speed franchise since Hot Pursuit 2, which came out four years ago. In fact, Ferrari used to be a staple in the franchise, appearing in almost all game's and even making the cover art of atleast one game (II). After HP2 it has just suddenly disappeared.--Porsche997SBS 20:11, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- If you find an article explaining the Ferrari's absence, then by all means go ahead and add it. Otherwise, it would be just another useless trivia point.--Aa35te 22:03, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
I dont know where an article is, but i assume that Ferrari's absenced is due to being more tuners in Underground and Underground 2, and the fact that police chases play more of a roll (and are unavoidable) in Most Wanted and Carbon. if you remember, in Hot Pursuit, High Stakes/Road Challenge and Hot Pursuit 2, Ferrari cars were locked at their request during any hot pursuit mode, because they didn't condone it.--Lynx Raven Raide 20:07, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Ferrari dont like being in a lot of video games any more because they dont like to see cars of their brand get damaged.Nic Car Bel 00:28, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

To Many Links
editIs it really necassary to have all these external links to fan sites and such? Most video game articles have only links to the game's homepage and maybe a broad popular site like IGN or Gamespot. These links are unorganized and mainly superfluous. Three fansites and more than six cheat/review/info sites is just unnecessary. BeefJeaunt 20:24, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- If you find it unnecessary, delete them. --Aa35te 22:03, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- My experience with deleting unnecessary information from Wikipedia such as long lists of fan links is that someone will inevitably revert my changes and say it was vandalism. Really the only one of those links that actually belongs here is the one for the official website, all the rest are fancruft. Once I clean this up I hope that the people who visit here have the decency to accept the edit.--Stranger Dan 01:27, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

EA TRAX
editOK. I have a VERY SERIOUS question about the EA Trax. I keep looking at the control functions and I can't find ANYWHERE how to (or if you even can) change songs. I'm used to this with all of the previous Need For Speed games I've played, but I don't know about this game, since toggling the songs in gameplay seems to have an absence here. Now here's my main question: Can you, during gameplay, change to another song instead of supposedly being forced to listen to the songs in the order provided? And if so, how? Please respond quickly!! I really want to know ASAP!!!! Just_Nt1m3 22:39, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- You can only turn the EA TRAX on or off during gameplay. In the EA TRAX menu (after going to through Main Menu and then Options, afterwards scrolling to the right to EA TRAX)you can choose which songs you want to use (although you cannot choose the order). You can also choose to either use all the songs or to use gameplay specific songs. I have the Xbox version of the game, I have not a clue if it's the same for all consoles. Downloadable/Non-Downloadable Vehicles
editI have seen the vehicle names marked with asterisks. Are they to download vehicles? Professional Gamer 22:41, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
No their just in the collector's edition
Deleting bad quality photo...
editIf no one has any objections I'd like to take out the really pixelated, low-res shot of Cross's Corvette and replace it with my own one which I'll upload in a day. If you have any problems message me.
Major Rewrite!
editJust to add guys, I went through most of this article, excluding Soundtrack, Critical Reception and Conflicts with Vista, rewriting, rewording and rephrasing some very poor writing. I made sure I used more encyclopedic language then the previous editor and added some extra info and took out unnecessary incorrect details.
Also I will replace that picture of Cross's Corvette with a much better quality screenie in a day or two.
If their are any problems/issues, contact me, or at least please post here what your changing, I don't mind at all, I just want to know what needs to be changed or why that's all. Please don't start an edit war or undoing hard work for no reason; if you do be so kind as to tell me.
Thanks!! Hope I've improved the article somewhat, btw also if their are any issues with the new picture additions in the article as well, contact me too...
Hidden Vehicles
editSome of the vehicles are not shown in the original ver. of Need For Speed: Carbon. Some of them are shown as "Reward Cards". Professional Gamer 01:05, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Pontiac GTO not in the game
editI took out the GTO screen shot because it is not in the game. I put the police by the Monaro VXR area. EDIT: I didn't reaize that it was a bonus car, sorry about that. Baseracer 04:08, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
It is indeed in the game, but it is called the Vauxhall Monaro VXR, I believe. Unless they called it the Pontiac GTO for the NTSC version. I have the PAL version. Dhalphir 07:06, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
comparing two different cars why?
editwhy do you compare the lambourgini to the audi? it's rather pointless, if your going to compare them compare a stock audi to a modified one. Not two different cars.Balmazer 02:22, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Remove Plot Outline tag and ReRate article....
editOk it seems this article has been somewhat forgotten about I don't know who added the "Overly Long or Confusing" tag but I've fixed it up now and I don' think it deserves that anymore, it fits well into the article and needs to be somewhat longish to describe the complicated story.
Also I hardly consider this article a "start" anymore on (assessment scale) that was obviously done a while back and it's grown and been changed a lot since then. I dunno how this assessment thing works so does somebody just reassess the article or what? In any case this article is a lot more polished now. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gamer112 (talk • contribs) 12:12, 6 February 2007 (UTC).
Need For Speed Carbon Chinese Version Release Date?
editOK, nobody seems to take care of Traditional Chinese version of release date... Address of chinese official webpage --> http://nfsmw.ea.com.tw/ (KyoriAsh 14:49, 7 February 2007 (UTC))
Seems that nobody want to take care of "Other language" release date and its websites, I included in the Game Info and modified a bit of external link. Hopefully this will clearify different language version... (KyoriAsh 19:30, 10 February 2007 (UTC))
- Well, this is English Wikipedia, maybe that's why nobody cares. Sites in Chinese are not helpful for the vast majority of readers here, so the link is removed. --MrStalker 20:47, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- To MrStalker, I think that Chinese version of the official link should be inserted, not because of majority readers only know English, but for their knowledge that other language's official website is available, for instance: MapleStory. For now, I wait for the answer and not readd the link yet. (KyoriAsh 01:27, 15 February 2007 (UTC))
For the sake of the encyclopedia spirit, I readded back the Traditional Chinese official website link, HOPEFULLY THE LINK WILL NOT REMOVED AGAIN (KyoriAsh 15:12, 8 March 2007 (UTC))
Games for Windows Categorization
editI'm pretty sure that NFS: Carbon doesn't have the Games for Windows logo so I'm taking the game off the category, unless it does have the logo. --The Helper S 04:48, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- If only it worked on Vista, supported an Xbox360 controller, and didn't crash, eh? --67.80.60.2 22:36, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
I have managed to get the game working in Vista RTM. If enough people have also managed that please edit/ lose the "Conflicts with Windows Vista" section. 125.237.164.41 08:54, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Characters table
editPlease someone fix that characters table, cuz it looks like shit. --MrStalker 08:38, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Because I don't have the know-how to do so, rather than fix the characters table, I just picked it up and dropped it onto the List of Need for Speed characters#Carbon article. At least this way only people who want to know detailed character information have to look at it. Dhalphir 07:08, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Pursuit System and Race Types
editPerhaps a section should be included giving rough details on Carbon's pursuit system, similar to the one of the Most Wanted page. Also, a section outlining Carbon's race types? Evils Dark 02:28, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Cross's Car
editCan I get some confirmation one mistake. I believe Cross has the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 ever since Need for Speed: Most Wanted? He did not switch between the two games. I believe in one of the loading screens from NFS: MW, it clearly states that Cross has the Corvette Z06 instead of the regular version (the player can only obtain a regular Corvette in career mode in MW). Furthermore, in the "bonus car" section of MW, Cross's vehicle can be obtained and is notably the Corvette Z06.
- There have been some revert wars on that bit of information. I'm not sure why it's apparently controversial. Xihr 19:25, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Cross does indeed drive the Z06, and so can the player. Dhalphir 07:08, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

List of cars
editLists of cars are unencyclopedic, and there's precedent in the large amount of articles that list cars and other game vehicles being deleted. Lists of cars are considered game guide material, and as such, not to be included in Wikipedia. DurinsBane87 00:28, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Small edit in the Car Customisation section
editI have edited the following
There is also the option to tune the performance for your cars by tweaking performance parts like Turbochargers for example, to have more or less Torque or Horsepower;
to this
There is also the option to tune the performance for your cars by tweaking performance parts like Turbochargers, to spool at low or high RPM, which roughly translates to being tweaked for acceleration or higher top speed
because when modifying the Turbocharger part, it does not refer to Torque and Horsepower, that is instead referred to when modifying the Engine. Dhalphir 03:03, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Mustang GT500??
editAnother major criticism of Need for Speed: Carbon was that with its release, many of the anticipated cars such as the Porsche 911 Turbo and Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 were inaccessible in game
This is inaccurate as far as I know, because the Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 is indeed completely accessible in the game. It is not a downloaded car, because I have not downloaded anything on my copy. My copy of the game is only a few weeks old, so perhaps in newer shipping runs of the game, the GT500 is included?
If no one has any objections, after a week I'll change this section. Dhalphir 03:18, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Plot condensed
editThe plot had to be condensed since it looked too long and too detailed. I had no choice. Feel free if you want to revert it but it would be preferable if the plot summary be condensed, and remain concise and as short as possible.
On a side note, the article looks way too messy as I firmly believe that action needs to be taken to shorten the article to a point where it would look beautiful, I would start out by moving the character-related information to the "List of Characters from Need for Speed" article or whatever we want to call it. 71.57.74.109 23:58, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- Good job condensing the plot. As for cleaning up the article, we could start by getting rid of the tables related to the crews and team members. I would say they would not be informative to someone who doesn't play the game, but I play the game and they arn't even useful for me, plus they are a violation of Wikipedia is not a game guide. --Daniel J. Leivick 02:31, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- As per my below post, rather than lose the tables entirely (Someone spent a great deal of time on those) I opted to move them to List of Need for Speed characters#Carbon. That way they are still accessible to anyone who wants to read them (I linked to them from the Characters section), but they don't detract from the overall article (their quality was not great) Dhalphir 07:10, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Characters section
editI removed the tables from the Characters section and moved them to List of Need for Speed characters#Carbon.
The tables took up way too much room in the article, and would be considered information which is not necessary in the main article. I added a link to the main article, and wrote a couple of sentences about the characters in the game. Hopefully this looks better.
Dhalphir 05:32, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- I smoothened up the edges a bit more on the major crews list to avoid a "You" focus--compare them and feel free to revert and/or edit to how you want it to look like. 71.57.74.109 12:13, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Cars section
editEdited that section to make it look a bit more general, although it looks awkward. Feel free to either edit and/or revert to the way you see would make the article look more beautiful. 71.57.74.109 12:35, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Soundtrack
editI've went over the Sountrack section of the section and saw a list. Do you guys think that Sountrack lists are against Wiki norms? Just curious because I know now that car lists are now against Wiki norms. Please advise. 71.57.74.109 12:37, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Mass condensing/article-fixing today

Plotline Revert
editReverted this
A string of final races between the player and "Stacked Deck" ensues with the player coming out as the victor in spite of Darius's efforts. Knowing what the rules are, Darius painstakingly surrenders his Audi R8 Road Car (called the Audi Le Mans Quattro in-game) and exiles himself from Palmont but not without warning the player that "there's always someone out there who's a little faster than you are, and sooner or later they're gonna catch up." He Leaves Palmont for good with David in his Jaguar XK
Please provide a citation, screenshot, or other form of evidence that this is indeed a Jaguar XK. Thanks Dhalphir 01:02, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
In-Game vs. reality
editAudi Le Mans Quattro
After looking at the Wikilink, it comes to my attention that the Le Mans Quattro, is without a doubt, the Audi R8 Road Car in reality. Audi presumably allowed EA to use the R8 but at the condition of calling the R8 as being "Audi Le Mans Quattro" instead. So, notating to reflect that the Le Mans Quattro is actually the R8 Road Car in real-life. 71.57.74.109 02:01, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Almost all information Removed?
editYeah, as the title says, for some reason, someone has deletd almost EVERYTHING related to advanced parts of the game, including -
- Characters - Seriously, even if the NFS Characters List was deleted, we should still get some info on the characters in the game.
- Pursuits - Alot of the information here disappeared too.
- Car Lists - Where'd they all go, I'm sure people'll wanna know what cars are ingame
- Images - The Images were a big help to alot of people, and now they're gone.
- Rival Crew Info - Alot of people'll wanna know about the crews too.
I rest my case, this article used to be very big and info-frfiendly, now it's like a basic description from a magazine.
- Please see WP:NOT specifically not a game guide or FAQ. This article should discuss the games real world relevance in connection with its features not give detailed descriptions of every element. Expansion would be welcome, but it should be real world info and it should be sourced. People who want a list of cars or characters can go to gamefaqs. --Daniel J. Gameplay section - Wingman error
editUnder the Gameplay section, it is written;
'The gameplay is based upon rival street racing crews. Players run a crew and can hire specific street racers to be in their crew and the active friendly racer is known as a wingman. Each hirable street racer has two skills, one which is a racing skill (scout, blocker, and drafter) and a non-race skill (fixer, mechanic, and fabricator). Each skill has different properties from finding hidden alleys/back streets (shortcuts) to reducing police attention. Cars driven by the wingmen are also different; blockers drive muscles, drafters drive exotics and scouts drive tuners. In career mode, players have to race tracks and win to conquer territories and face off against bosses to conquer districts.'
I have issue with this section, and the line about wingmen that I have italicized in particular.
The first two wingmen you get (Neville, a blocker and Sal, a scout) will drive the same type of car you drive. If you have a tuner, so will they. They will also drive the same tier car you drive, so if you drive a tier 2 car, so will they.
The next 3 wingmen you can hire come from the crews you beat after gaining that quarter of the map. These wingmen will always drive the style of car that their crew drove. For example, Yumi, who comes to you after you beat the Bushido crew, will always drive tuners, as the Bushido crew did. And as with the first two, these next three wingmen also drive the same tier car you drive.
The last wingman you get, Nikki, drives her tier 3 Ford GT as she has done throughout many of the game's cut scenes.
I find it odd that a large portion of this gameplay section is devoted to the wingman feature, which could either be expanded to include the ability to upgrade the crews vehicles, or more reasonably, that it should be condensed, and more details of the actual gameplay be noted in this section. My proposal is as follows.
'The gameplay is based upon rival street racing crews. In career mode, players race on various street courses and tracks and conquer territories and face off against rival crew bosses to conquer districts. Police cars may intervene and attempt to bust the player during and in-between races, causing fines and the eventual loss of their car. The player has their own crew and sets a wingman to help in the races, who can either block other cars, scout shortcuts, or lead and let the player draft for more speed.
The player wins prize money and unlockables as they win races, such as performance parts to be purchased, new styling upgrade choices and additional tiers of cars to buy and race with.
During the game, the player can hire up to two street racers for their own crew, one of which can be a wingman to race with the player. Each crew member has a special Race and Career skill. Race skills include blocking rival cars from passing, or scouting a shortcut during the race. Career skills include discounts on performance parts or lessening the amount of police presence for the player.'
I feel my revision gives a more balanced summary of the gameplay than what currently stands, in addition to including the police aspect of the game. If no objection is raised, I would like to change the 'Gameplay' section to my revision.
As of now, I have no references to cite aside from my own gameplay experience, or by citing the NFS Wikia page at (http://nfs.wikia.com).

- A player can't get busted during a race, but the cops can impede the player's car. If the cops are activated during a race, then the pursuit will start after the player continues from the post race stats menu. Rcgldr (talk) 10:39, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Plot - According to game storyline video, flashback is 4 to 5 years ago, not just months before Most Wanted
editSkip to 3:35 and pause it as needed of this video from the Carbon collectors edition, which includes the storyline for the character Nikki: Nikki was 19 when the main character left Palmont, and 24 when he returns, so the flashback would be 4 to 5 years prior (2001 or 2002) to "present day" (November 2006). Carbon collector's edition storyline video. This is also mentioned on page 27 of the official guide for Carbon: Need for Speed Carbon Prima_Official Guide. This would place the flashback scene 4 to 5 years prior to Carbon, much earlier than just a few months prior to Most Wanted (late 2005). Rcgldr (talk) 21:02, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
Carbon was the first Need for Speed title to feature online exclusive game modes - not true
editNeed For Speed High Stakes had an exclusive online game mode, lap knockout. After each lap, the last place player's car would be replaced by a large dump truck, which the player would typically drive backwards to ram or impede the remaining racers. Assuming a full race with 8 players, the event ended up with 6 players driving trucks, and 2 players racing. Rcgldr (talk) 10:49, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
car types - exotics (speed), muscle (acceleration), tuners (handling) - characteristics not mentioned in game.
editThis is mentioned in the article, but not anywhere within the game, or the materials in the game. Furthermore, there aren't any career mode tracks where the exotics can reach top speeds that the muscle cars can (specifically tier 2 Charger RT or tier 3 Z06). To set top speed records, infinite nitrous, infinite crew member cheat codes are needed, while running on the South Fortuna track, a non career mode track that includes a long stretch of Hwy 142, drafting Nikki on Hwy 142 with the player also in a Ford GT using infinite crew member and nitrous to get speeds up to 522 kph == 356 mph. Breaking out of the draft results in a brief moment of even more speed, but it's mostly random. None of this is mentioned within the game or any guide, and only mentioned in youtube videos, and fan forum sites that were shut down long ago. Rcgldr (talk) 20:59, 15 June 2019 (UTC)
Career mode - canyon duel - career mode - crashing through barriers
editIf the player crashes through a barrier - it's an instant loss (restart (back to the first stage) is an option at this point, and I don't recall if any cash is lost). It's also possible for Wolf to crash through a barrier, but this is a canned sequence at a specific barrier near the end of the run, it rarely happens, and it's not clear if anything the player does can trigger this, as it appears to be random. Despite hoax videos on youtube, only Wolf can crash through a barrier. I'm not sure if this should be added to the article or how to simplify the explanation. Rcgldr (talk) 17:30, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
