rules
Is this actual nonsense, or just badly worded? The most important rule of netball is that angry bulls are not allowed to umpire. Dysprosia 10:03, 2 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- Yes, it is nonsense. -- Popsracer 10:13, 2 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- Thought so! My metaphor-spidey-sense has been tingling a bit too much today :) Dysprosia 10:18, 2 Sep 2003 (UTC)
Anonymous opinion, October 2004
(Moved from article page) "Netball is a womens game only and it is the best sport for girls and it is the best!!!" As a 63-year-old bloke who has never played netball, I must say I'm happy for anyone to think those "POV" thoughts but not to put them in an encyclopedia article. FYI there are mens leagues run in London & Manchester, UK and in High 5 the kids version boys also partipate--TabbyHils (talk) 13:35, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

I just want to say that I didn't realize I had erased a good deal of text, I'm not sure how that happened, to be honest (browser cache?). Nevermind, looking at the history I see it wasn't my fault! Nothing to see here, folks... --Fastfission 06:28, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)

deleted one dupe link, the rest needs to be looked at for more dupes and have lower items categorized like the higher ones. I cant, broke wrist today, too sore, no more typing. Jafafa Hots 18:28, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
Cynna Kydd
Looking at the front page tonight, I was curious because Cynna Kydd was the featured article and I'd never heard of this sport before. Looking at this article, I was surprised to find the featured article's subject missing from the personalities list, so I added the link and alphabetised it, as well as adding a picture from the Kydd article. Just curious about one thing: was there a specific reason why the names seemed to be in random order before? If so, I'm sorry for messing it up :-) Nyttend 03:19, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

This sport or a similar one is played in Czech Republic, with co-ed teams. It has hoops on poles higher than 10'. Psnack 05:22, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Korfball
Could anyone shed some light on what the relation of this game is to another game, called korfball? -- MiG 22:23, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Netball developed in the 1890s and 1900s as an outdoor version of basketball. The korfball article suggests that it was invented around the same time, but independently of basketball / netball, so its relation is probably only in that the games are superficially similar. --Mako 05:28, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Major muscle groups used
What are the major muscle groups used in Netball? I can't find it elsewhere on the internet. Thai Phan 05:42, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Umpires
Since umpires are such a big part of netball... what do u think about an article about netball umpires? Megan102 07:58, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
"womens sport"
It doesn't really seem accurate, as boys do play netball to, at least in Australia where I live. Boys even play ranked games on a college/senior level here, so the opening paragraph isn't really accurate when it says that it is a womens sport. Sure a lot of boys might avoid netball because of it's female dominance, but boys do play too JayKeaton 00:37, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
stepping rule
Nota allowed to take more then one step is confusing so I think we should talk about the grounded foot and the proper rule.203.173.213.38 02:48, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Netball
Sub-Division of England Netball wanting Link
Hi,
I produce the Netball South West (Regional division of England Netball) website and would like to like from the netball article to our site and possibly all of the other regional web sites. England netball does a lot of work in administering the game natinally but it is the regional groups who do a lot of the grund work and actually run the game. If people are looking to get involved I believe it would be of real use and relevance to link in this way.
What do you think?
Felicity Knight (14/8/07)
- How many regions of netball teams are there in England? If there are too many then the external links section will get too big. External links in Wikipedia are supposed to be informational and relevant to the subject of the article. I would actually like to remove all the local interest links from the external links section of this article and instead link to the Open Directory Project where links to regional netball associations can be found. You could submit your site there and it would show up in the England netball category. So, yes ... the link would fit in the external links section as it is now, but I think it's too big at the moment and most of the links should be replaced with a link to the Open Directory Project. (Disclaimer: I don't know much about netball ... I just watch this article because it often gets vandalised). Graham87 00:43, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- The category in the Open Directory Project I want to link is the netball category. I will do this tomorrow if there are no objections. Graham87 00:46, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I have provided links to the directories in the Open Directory Project and the Yahoo! Directory in line with the basketball article. I have also removed the forum link since the external links guidelines discourage links to forums. Graham87 12:37, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Scoring rules
Can you dunk in netball? Is goaltending allowed (interfering with a shot while it's on its way down)? Pimlottc (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 00:15, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
A shot has to be made with both feet on the ground I believe. I am unsure about goal ending, but would guess no. Matt (talk) 18:36, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Dunking is allowed. You don't have to keep your feet on the ground when shooting. Goaltending is also allowed. However, you cannot interfere with the goalpost in any way. Both dunking and goaltending are much more difficult to do successfully in netball compared to basketball due to the contact rules. Igloo73 (talk) 03:34, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Non-contact Nonsence
An interesting discussion is the first line written for Netball is catagorising the sport as "non-contact" I am yet to see any official documentation of Netball being a non-contact sport. This is an inaccurate rumor. Please refer to IFNA rules of Netball and you will see nothing about it being a non-contact sport. Darren —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.76.170.34 (talk) 05:05, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Refer to the authoritative source, interpretation can be absent or secondary (and might change as rules-of-contact are amended). I was taught that U.S. basketball is non-contact, too -- much to my chagrin, I attempted to play it that way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.173.78.166 (talk) 02:27, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Notable Players
Could somebody else please check a fact that the UK player Kendra Slawinski is the correct spelling and not the one used. --TabbyHils (talk) 13:35, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- A quick Google search shows that Kendra Slawinski is the likely correct spelling, as opposed to "Kendra Slewenski", for which I could find no credible supporting sources. I've moved the article to the name you provided, and changed the name in this article. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Cheers. – Liveste (talk • edits) 14:16, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Notable players
Do people think this section is necessary? I can't see anything similar on basketball, rugby union, or tennis (random selection), though they have separate pages for this purpose.
Matt (talk) 21:20, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- I agree, I don't think this section is necessary, or even warranted. It strikes me as unsourceable POV, and as you point out, other sports articles don't include this type of list. Feel free to either delete it or move it to a separate article. We could also probably move the Australian variations for children section to Netball in Australia: equivalent but different schemes would likely exist in other major netball-playing countries (certainly in New Zealand). Cheers. – Liveste (talk • edits) 10:16, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Indoors?
Normally I'd be bold and simply change something, but I think this has been the subject of reversions before, so I'll ask first. I think we should remove the reference to netball being a "generally indoor" sport. Granted, elite-level netball is generally played indoors, but local-level netball is generally outdoors the world over. This article should focus on the sport at all levels, so I think the whole indoors/outdoors description should be removed entirely. I might do so if there is no opposing consensus within a couple of days. Thoughts? – Liveste (talk • edits) 23:37, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Popularity
I read "Netball is the most popular (team) sport in the world for women." (Cherie Blair - BBC: Campaign for netball at Olympics). So is this true? Hakluyt bean (talk) 21:19, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
