Incorrect reference to Network Information Service
editThis statement:
NIS is used for centralised Authentication. NIS shares all NIS users'
home directories using NFS and we can access any NIS users from any client
in the network.
appears to refer a different meaning of NIS: Network Information Service rather than Network information system. I suggest re-wording the paragraph as:
If you are looking for the
"Yellow Pages" (YP) client-server directory service protocol from Sun Microsystems,

I'll second that. Philomathoholic 05:08, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
External links modified (February 2018)
editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just modified one external link on Network information system. Please take a moment to review my edit. If you have any questions, or need the bot to ignore the links, or the page altogether, please visit this simple FaQ for additional information. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/web/20060715144025/http://www.vanemery.com/DAS/DAS-manual.html to http://www.vanemery.com/DAS/DAS-manual.html
When you have finished reviewing my changes, you may follow the instructions on the template below to fix any issues with the URLs.

Remove most or all external links
editAll (or most) of the "External Links" on this page refer to the other NIS (Network Information Service). This adds a good deal of confusion for anyone on the wrong page or for those looking to expand their reading on Network Information Systems.
I am not an experienced editor (at all) or I'd take the steps myself. RJ Bertramus (talk) 19:09, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
