Hi! I'm looking for feedback on how to make this article read more like an encyclopedia! Please help if you can! SII&CT Alex (talk) 20:28, 27 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey! I see that no one has reviewed this yet. I'll get on that as soon as I get home :) --MaryB-INF2165 (talk) 20:55, 27 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey, again! Really great start! I don’t agree with whoever flagged your article for being “review-like”. It offered a good overview of the topic. The only part that I though might be construed as “review-like” would be your section “Implications for State Security”. Maybe to get around this, you might consider introducing the referenced scholars’ works as agreed-upon claims and just state their assertions (i.e. stand-alone information – with citations of course)

Just a note:

  • In your first sentence, I believe you are referring to law enforcement, not lawn

This is a tricky subject to find articles on! At least, it seems to be having only done a very peripheral search. Here’s what I found. Hope some of it might be use to you!

This reddit thread might offer some valuable internet user perspectives: http://www.reddit.com/r/CanadaPolitics/comments/1osbkv/stop_nsa_surveillance_of_canadians_a_call_for/

This is an early text on governing networks. It might offer a useful historical perspective! http://heinonline.org/HOL/LandingPage?handle=hein.journals/emlj45&div=26&id=&page=

Hey SII CT Alex! I really like the subsections you've designated to this topic, they're all meaty topics in themselves. And an interesting point re. VPNs.

A few thoughts and questions:

Introduction: Is network sovereignty limited to states, or self-governing bodies, including states and others - if so, what are the others? Does the purpose of network sovereignty stem from a question or does it create the question of how borders transfer from the physical world to the digital? Expanding the intro would make it stronger, especially that third sentence.

Source names: It's helpful to know that Saskia Sassen is a scholar, David Post is a law prof, etc. I would include designations for all sources, including Jonathan Obar, Andrew Clement, Alison Cavanaugh and John Perry Barlow.

Protection of National Traffic: Would enforcement of network sovereignty prevent the NSA from 'Boomerang Routing' that enables tracking of Canadian traffic?

I've found a couple of articles that are directly relevant to your topic, take a look:

Thanks for the feedback! I tried to make it sound less reviewy, and I took a look at those sources you both suggested. The help is much appreciated! SII&CT Alex (talk) 15:54, 29 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

German example does not fit

The Article concerns the lemma "network sovereignty", but the example listed here is a application space approach to digital sovereignty that has nothing to do with the attempts of authoritarian internet regulation or national firewalling. Rebentisch (talk) 11:50, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
