Rarer forms
editWould someone be willing to add more here on breast, and more rare forms of neuroendocrine tumors? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.134.137.73 (talk) 17:10, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
Proposed merge of Neuroendocrine tumors and Carcinoid
editThe World Health Organisation has suggested the use of the follow (instead of "carcinoid"):
- neuroendocrine tumo(u)r
- -- or --
- neuroendocrine carcinoma
As per above, I think it makes sense to merge carcinoid into neuroendocrine tumor (or move both to neuroendocrine carcinoma. Nephron T|C 06:18, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Support as per above Nephron T|C 06:18, 12 August 2008 (UTC) (proposant)
- Oppose. Carcinoid is a distinct disease. JFW | T@lk 14:21, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- Support as per above. It's a subclass, it's absolutely not distinct. It's certainly murky, the difference, and there should not be 2 different articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Danielbirns (talk • contribs) 00:35, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose. Carcinoid is a subgroup of neuroendocrine tumours, other NET should not be discussed on the same page as carcinoid as it creates confusion.
- Support. Carcinoid is now an obsolete term as per the WHO. However, I suggest the page be renamed "Neuroendocrine neoplasm", which are then subdivided into Neuroendocrine tumors (the new term for carcinoid) and Neuroendocrine carcinoma (poorly differentiated, G3 lesions) (Emilyjem (talk) 03:04, 16 June 2017 (UTC))
Relevance of "People with neuroendocrine cancer"
editI'm removing this section as it seems almost irrelevant - no other types of cancer list people who have suffered and this is not a particularly rare form either. It appears to me that it's added in solely to name Steve Jobs; of course if I'm wrong then revert but for now I'll be bold! Cpl Syx [talk] 10:12, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- Support removal. Anyway, he doesn't have neuroendocrine cancer anymore.. eug (talk) 05:41, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- Well, quite! Thanks for support. Cpl Syx [talk] 11:04, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
