The song in Peter Pan

edit

My addition of this to the DAB has been reverted by Hoof Hearted with the edit summary not mentioned at Peter Pan (1954 musical).

This is not true, see here. It's the fourth song from the end of Act II.

More to the point, is this line a likely search term for the song? See

and comments on that welcome. I spent much of my boyhood listening to musical comedy original cast recordings, including this one, and did not know the correct title of the song... I think it may have been on a pre-recorded tape rather than an LP record, if so there may have been no liner notes.

So I searched for it under this tag line. I doubt I am the only one. Andrewa (talk) 00:47, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

The term "never grow up" does not appear in that article. Per MOS:DABMENTION, that entry should not be added to Never Grow Up. It could be added to I Won't Grow Up (disambiguation) if such a page existed. Hoof Hearted (talk) 01:12, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's not what MOS:DABMENTION says. It says If a topic is not mentioned in the other article, that article should not be linked to in the disambiguation page, since linking to it would not help readers find information about the sought topic. (my emphasis)
The topic is mentioned, but by another name. The topic is the song, and it is mentioned in the article.
And this is why linking to it would help readers find information about the sought topic.
And how do I know? Because that's what brought me to the DAB. And it will bring others to it for exactly the same reason.
I'm just trying to save them some trouble at least, and possibly even save them from failure to find the information they seek. That's what the mention in the DAB achieves. What does deleting it achieve? Andrewa (talk) 04:18, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
If you want to restore it, I won't revert. To answer your question: deleting it speeds up navigation to legitimate targets (I'll grant you we're arguing over a single line of text, which is why I won't fight its restoration).
However I still maintain there is nothing in the article that even implies that "I Won't Grow Up" is also known as "Never Grow Up", or repeats "never grow up" throughout the lyrics. So, in my view, the topic is not mentioned on the page. Where do we draw the line? Should the Annie song "Tomorrow" be listed at I Love You because that phrase is in the lyrics and someone may search by that phrase? Should "Shipoopi" be listed at Do Re Mi? DAB pages are not meant to be search engines and I would suggest someone struggling to remember a title would find Google more effective. Hoof Hearted (talk) 13:16, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK, I have restored the line in question.
Agree that there is nothing in the article that even implies that "I Won't Grow Up" is also known as "Never Grow Up", or repeats "never grow up" throughout the lyrics. But disagree that this is relevant. The question is whether the topic is known by this name, not whether the article says that it is. Happy to discuss further.
