Lombe Chinkangala Party: New Democratic Party of Canada Birth Date: Age/Yr of Birth: Birthplace: Zambia Year of Arrival In Canada: 1988 Education: Studied Economics and Theology. Continuing his studies at York University. Career Background: Currently operates a paralegal consulting service. Since coming to Canada in 1988, has beenactive with the Inter- Church Coalition on Africa and AmnestyInternational. Has a long history of communityinvolvement in Canada as well as his native Zambia. Has a background inteaching, and at one time organized for the Zambia NationalTeachers' Union. In 1972 - was elected leader of theopposition Democratic Party in Zambia. He was detained without trialon several occasions and spent 11 years in jail for his politicalbeliefs, and advocating social change and respect for humanrights.
