Going to Town
editSomeone is saying NHP is a town? And is inside two other towns? And part is in Queens when no article about Queens says so? Perhaps this could be further clarified? Jim.henderson 22:45, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Actually the whole article makes no sense because the title of the article is "New Hyde Park" - but the article is about the "incorporated Village of New Hyde Park", not "New Hyde Park". The Incorporated Village of New Hyde Park resides within New Hyde Park (which is not represented in the article). For example, the map shows New Hyde Park as running from 11th Avenue to somewhere midway between Jericho Turnpike and Hillside Avenue. What this map is showing is the borders of the Village of New Hyde Park since New Hyde Park runs all the way North to Hillside Avenue (and possibly further north if Lakeville Estates is considered New Hyde Park) and all the way east to Denton Avenue - the border of Garden City Park (and possibly as far east as Herricks Road if Herricks is considered part of New Hyde Park). Maybe there needs to be two articles - one for New Hyde Park and one for The Incorporated Village of New Hyde Park.
As far as Queens, NY is concerned, there is in fact a two-or three block stretch that is actually New Hyde Park Queens - specifically, The Langdale Garden Apartments on Langdale Street between Hillside Ave and Union Turnpike. This "New Hyde Park, Queens" has absolutely nothing do with New Hyde Park or the Village of New Hyde Park in Nassau County. 71.183.85.140 (talk) 00:25, 13 March 2008 (UTC)AR
This article is conflating North New Hyde Park (often also referred to as New Hyde Park) with The Incorporated Village of New Hyde Park, both are in the area known as New Hyde Park as is Lakeville Estates which is in North New Hyde Park and might also overlap with the incorporated area as well. No one from the incorporated area goes to the Great Neck School District/Parkvill. The "Demographics" section looks like it exclusively uses the numbers from the incorporated area, please see http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/SAFFFacts?_event=Search&geo_id=&_geoContext=&_street=&_county=new+hyde+park&_cityTown=new+hyde+park&_state=04000US36&_zip=&_lang=en&_sse=on&pctxt=fph&pgsl=010&show_2003_tab=&redirect=Y 98.116.84.107 (talk) 09:02, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Source of history information
editThe history section seems to have been copied verbatim from here by User:141.155.13.200. If this was added by the same author, or if the poster acquired permission, it should be noted here on the talk page. I'm removing the entire section, and adding an external link to the source. -- Samuel Wantman 10:19, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:NHPlogo.gif
editImage:NHPlogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

New Hyde Park (village), New York → New Hyde Park, New York — A short reason for page name change= There is no article for New Hyde Park, the greater area constituting more than just the village. The village should b a subsection. 74.74.83.77 (talk) 00:14, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Editors have made this article about the village of New Hyde Park once again, the only reason for the name "North New Hyde Park" is that it's the name of census designated population outside of the village that the Census Bureau bestowed upon it (whether or not it includes the piece in queens, i can't tell). in practice I've never heard anyone use the word north. the area outside the village also has a greater population. 15,585 vs 9,906 (2017). https://factfinder.census.gov/faces/nav/jsf/pages/searchresults.xhtml?refresh=t
also "...and the residents of the Parkville section of town (generally north of Hillside Avenue and west of New Hyde Park Road) are assigned to the Great Neck School District." saying "generally" might be too general without having more bounds. https://nces.ed.gov/programs/maped/acsmaps/ 74.101.3.225 (talk) 09:44, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
On notable people
editI have edited the notable people section here today. Please realize that the changes made are no reflection upon the people removed, or any comment on their notability to the town. Lists such as this are intended for people whose notability extends well beyond the town. The senior league baseball coach is famous locally, but probably not beyond that. The standard for inclusion in lists like this is the existence of enough reliable reference material to create a Wikipedia article on the subject. Generally that does not exist for musicians in bands and radio personalities. The general rule is if there isn't a Wikipedia article on the subject don't add them. If enough material exists to create an article you should do so before adding them to the list. See WP:WTAF. Thanks Gtwfan52 (talk) 20:03, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
2000 vs. 2010 census info: something doesn't look right
editAfter the first paragraph (demographic data), the next three paragraphs seem to be identical between the 2000 and 2010 census. Except for income, where the 2010 census numbers look like the 2000 census numbers but just $100,000 more. What's going on here? ~GMH talk to me 21:22, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
A picture of a sunset??? REALLY???

A picture of the SUN GOING DOWN behind a dark building?
