The Name
editAnyone able to source the 'New Invention' referred to in the name? I've always wondered... Pimdip 09:23, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
yes: check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPLM5Q1zK_w for what is thought to be the origin of the name: the chimney pot was invented there. (though why it didn't get called 'chimney pot' instead is beyond me...!) - gavin (formerly of new invention...) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.56.206.44 (talk) 15:46, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- From what I was told, it was a very clever chimney pot. It had a vane at the top so that it could turn its back to the wind. Myrvin (talk) 12:57, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- Found quite a lot. Myrvin (talk) 21:55, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
- If anyone has a reference for the chimney pot idea, clever or not, please add it to the article. This would seem to be much more likely than a hawthorn bush.--Shantavira|feed me 14:16, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
Wesley Road
edit"Perhaps in recognition of John Wesley part of the present day A462 road is in fact named Wesley Road." Wesley Road is also the site of the Methodist Church and Wesley Hall, the site of which takes up about a third of the length of the road. The present chapel dates from 1881. There was an earlier chapel in close proximity. I think that the statement as it appears in the article doesn't have a strong enough basis. 109.249.181.86 (talk) 23:33, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
