Emblem

edit

That's the wrong emblem. The one currently shown is the emblem of the Galactic Empire; the New Republic uses the Alliance emblem, which is reminscent of a bird in flight. --Poorpaddy 02:59, 12 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Update: corrected the emblem. --Poorpaddy 03:01, 12 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Seriously, who keeps changing it back to the incorrect emblem? --Poorpaddy 01:48, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The symbol presently shown is actually that of the Rebel Alliance. Could someone correct it? Custodes 07:40, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

    • Yep, it's incorrect, NR logo is RA + stars around (to make it simple)

At Talk: New Republic it has been suggested (by me) to move this article to New Republic, since it's the only real usage of the term in Wikipeida. Your comments at Talk:New Republic are welcome. --Commander Keane 11:03, 20 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Timeline

edit

The page for the Old Republic says that it lasted for 25,000 years, whilst this page says "over 1000 years". While I suppose that they're not technically in disagreement, can someone investigate and change whichever page is incorrect?--Shinyplasticbag 04:26, 27 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

It is probably a misunderstanding. It lasted for a thousand generations, not years, which, assuming they mean human generations, is more or less 25,000 years. Custodes 07:36, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Canon

edit

New Republic is now canon once again. Should the page be rewritten to fit in with the new canon? ReddyRedCP (talk) 00:35, 8 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Canon isn't a meaningful concept in an out-of-universe, real-world encyclopedia like Wikipedia. What's worthwhile is verifiability, i.e. what texts and creators and critics have to say about a subject. --EEMIV (talk) 01:05, 8 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

I see no reason for us to have this article. There is zero third-party coverage as it stands, and barely any content beyond a summary. Even the Galactic Republic page—which itself suffers the same problems with a much more elaborate summary-only description—could convey this article's information just as effectively. I propose we either merge it or get rid of it altogether. User:Immblueversion (talk) 04:22, 21 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

I would propose it be merged into Rebel Alliance, since they are essentially the same entity, with any further detail into their distinction being inappropriate for expansion on the encyclopedia/ Tpdwkouaa (talk) 22:20, 21 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
I agree with @Tpdwkouaa:. It should be merged. Verified Cactus (talk) 19:59, 2 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Resistance

edit

When did the Rebellion become "the Resistance", and why are they still called the Resistance if they defeated all but the remnants of Imperial power? Once you've largely defeated the enemy power, you are no loner the Resistance, you are The Government. But I guess that doesn't sound so good...which is probably why they talk about Resistance now instead of Rebellion, because they want people to think of French maquis in WWII, not Confederate flags. Love it. Anyway, I don't ask because I wish an answer, but because if there is an explanation anyone has developed for this, it might be appropriate for this page.
