Primary

@Mdewman6: I understand that you removed the primary topic because New York Bar redirects here. I'm not sure if that was the consensus.

@CycloneYoris: at WP:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 November 29#New York Bar there were 3 Keep votes, with one of them saying New York City Bar Association is the primary topic, and I had drafted the DAB accordingly. What was your reading of the consensus? Jay 💬 06:01, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

The fact that the DAB page was centered around the primary topic made me conclude that the main concern raised by those who voted "keep" was actually solved, and therefore preserving the primary topic by including it in the DAB; along with the other entries which were mentioned by some participants as well. I did not get what you meant by the DAB page was centered around the primary topic. As per your close, do we have a primary topic? Jay 💬 09:00, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Jay: I meant that the New York State Bar Association (which was deemed the primary topic according to some participants) was listed above all of the other entries listed on the DAB. Although in my opinion, there isn't any… and "New York Bar" could easily refer to any of the entries listed there. CycloneYoris talk! 09:18, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks for clarifying on your close regarding the primary. The order in which the disambiguation entries are listed does not matter. But if it is listed in the lead of the dab, then it is the primary, which is how it was at the time of your close. By accepting the DAB I would assume that you endorsed the primary, but by retargeting New York Bar to the dab, it meant you did not see a primary. This was an inconsistent state that had to be fixed one way or the other, and thanks to Mdewman6 for removing the primary from the dab. Jay 💬 09:30, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Right, without questioning the close or consensus, if the uppercase page were to redirect to the dab, then that means there is no primary topic for the uppercase term and should not be presented as being primary on the dab page. Moreover, if it were, the dab page should arguably be at New York Bar (disambiguation). I have no strong feelings in the matter and would be open to change, but right now everything is setup as there being no primary topic for either capitalization.
