edit'Wealthy' is a biased adjective. I removed it. Hope nobody minds. ~Xela267, 6:21 PM, Saturday, March 10, 2007
How is wealthy a biased adjective? Isn't it descriptive, meaning the opposite of 'poor', and distinguishing it from 'average' or 'median'? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.141.23.165 (talk) 00:11, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Plenty of history to be written
editNewcastle was a mining town with a history of labor incidents in the 19th century. I believe it figures in the geography of the areas early railways. And Methodist minister Daniel Bagley (prominent in the founding of the University of Washington) managed the mine there at one time. I don't have sources handy or I'd write this myself.
Also, at one time it had a considerably larger African American community than Seattle, including (I believe) at least one black-run newspaper. I imagine there's material on this in Seattle's Black Victorians. I'll try to follow this up some time if no one gets there before me. - Jmabel | Talk 07:07, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

I was about to do some copyediting anyway, so I will try to rewrite while I'm at it, to make it hopefully less of a copyright infringement. Pfly (talk) 19:22, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
