The Lillingtons

edit

Members of the band the Lillingtons are indeed notable residents. They recorded for Lookout! Records, one of the most well known punk rock labels of the nineties, and three of the four members were/are Newcastle residents. Also, former Lillingtons member Kody Templeman is now a member of Teenage Bottlerocket, a band with widespread national acclaim. I'm not sure why someone keeps vandalizing this page and taking this information down.

Accidental Oil Co.

edit

Newcastle once boasted the world's only hand-dug oil well, a local landmark and tourist attraction that I had the pleasure of visiting in the mid-1980s. The name was probably a tongue-in-cheek play on "Occidental Petroleum". After its proprietor died in 2005, it became defunct.[1] I also remember eating breakfast in a Newcastle café; the ice water that was brought to my table had a distinct flavor of petroleum. It might be good to add information to the article about oil exploration and production in the area. — QuicksilverT @ 22:30, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
