The House of Assembly uses the Coat of Arms of Newfoundland to identify itself. These arms have been used to represent sovereignty of the Queen for the specific purposes of administering governance in the province. 174.116.16.191 (talk) 10:42, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

This may all be true, however Wikipedia requires that for a non-free image to be used, it must illustrate the topic of the article. I feel that this symbol is not required for the understanding of the topic, and I recommend that this article gets expanded and updated, rather than just adding a symbol of the Queen. 117Avenue (talk) 02:03, 17 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

The image does not need to be free (WP:NFCC #1), and it does comply WP:NFCC #10c. It is consistent with other Canadian Provincial Parliaments pages on Wikipedia and according to RSNL1990 CHAPTER C-20 COAT OF ARMS ACT Amended: 1999 c20; 2001 cN-3.1 s2, the Coat of Arms is the Official symbol of the House of Assembly. 68.145.118.242 (talk) 15:52, 18 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

"The image does not need to be free", but as WP:NFCC #1 states, a free one is preferred. "Complies with WP:NFCC #10c", your explanation on the file page is incorrect. "It is consistent with other Canadian Provincial Parliaments pages on Wikipedia", incorrect, eight of the twelve articles do not display the Coat of Arms of their province or territory (Alberta, BC, New Brunswick, Nunavut, PEI, Quebec, and Yukon). "According to the COAT OF ARMS ACT Amended: 1999, the Coat of Arms is the Official symbol of the House of Assembly", incorrect there is no mention of "official" or the House of Assembly in that act. 117Avenue (talk) 02:28, 19 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
