Talk:Newmilns

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

I'd like clarification on the part of the etymology section which reads, "the earliest known recording of the name appears as Nawemeln in 1126." This information pre-existed my update and also appears on many other internet sites, but nothing I've found which actually cites the contemporary source. In my update, I've referenced the s1Newmilns site as it appeared more likely to be accurate than other potential references, but ideally, the information should be referenced with the contemporary source. Does anyone know which document it was? If so, can you contact me or re-reference please?

Thanks.

To clear up any ambiguity, the golf club west of Newmilns is officially known as Loudoun Gowf Club and all documentation I've found predating the establishment of the club refers to the Gowf Field. As such, inclusion of the word gowf is correct and relevant to the article.
