Motto

Is "bona mens omnibus patent" (a good mind they are accessible to all) really the school's motto? It's grammatically incorrect and should probably be "bona mens omnibus patet" (a good mind is accessible to all). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.34.93.184 (talk) 02:39, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Source

Is there any source to the date the school was founded and the size of the land? As it stands now there's nothing supporting its validity. CowmanTalk 18:56, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

School Date

The school lot size is based on the assesors' database at the Newton City Hall website. I converted the size in square feet to acres.

Also, the school date is wrong. One of the librarians told me it was 1960, and so I'm changing it to that. Unsigned comment by Mingdoh

Ah, good. The one who changed the date to 1960 was a known vandal, so I assumed that this was simply a drive by edit. CowmanTalk 23:37, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Accrediation.

I'm also considering adding:

"The school was re-accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges in 2005." Unsigned comment by Mingdoh

Unless we have access to the results of the accredidation there isn't much reason to simply state that NSHS was re-accredited. Obviously it's a new england association so not just Newton South was looked at. CowmanTalk 22:49, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Salzer

That was a poor decision on my part, which can only be chalked up to late-night Wikipeding (or however that should be spelled). I'm going to put him at the end of the article, along with something about North's new principal and the Mountain/Camenker tempest-in-a-teapot over their sexuality.

Removal of famous alumni

It appears that famous alumni of both Newton North and Newton South are already listed under Newton, Massachusetts. Because of this I have simply removed listing in both schools with the reasoning being it is a redundant listing, it promotes a non-neutral point of view (IE. a sort of popularity contest between the schools to see who has more 'famous' people. If there is a general consensus and agreement that they should be put back, by all means we can put them back. Talk about it here if you disagree with me, please. (Copied from Cowman109's talk Page) Newton South is a different from Newton North as it is from Brookline High. Therefore, I would not aggregate information (alumni, etc.) on the "Newton" page... ...also, since there is a dire need for alumni to step forward and organize their classes at South, I would propose (ask) that you return the list.. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.91.210.208 (talkcontribs) .
What I felt was that there should either be just a list of 'famous' people in the Newton Page, or only one at each school. I believe the Newton Page also states from where people graduated. Either way, we'd experience some overlapping as we have some people who were born in Newton but did not necessarily go to school here, so there'd be a little bit everywhere. As I stated above, having separate lists for each school also, in my opinion, promotes a non-neutral point of view that makes a sort of competition between the two schools. In my ideal world we could just remove the list of 'famous' people from all these pages as they are just superficial names that scream 'Hey, look at us, we have famous people!' (though I mean no offense, since I'm from here too). CowmanTalk 14:26, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
