Politburo ranking
editThe fact that Trong was selected as the No. 8 member of the Politburo was reported everywhere in the state media. Nhan Dan gives the list both in English and in Vietnamese. Voice of Vietnam does the same here and here. As far as who is really running Vietnam goes, the only statement we have from someone who should know is Michalak's cable, which says, "Dung and Sang have amassed unparalleled influence in Vietnam's Party-state apparatus; they are arguably the two most powerful political figures in the country today." So Trong is apparently not one of the two most powerful leaders. Since this cable was written, Sang has been promoted from No. 2 to No. 1 on the Politburo. - The alphabetical list of leaders is not really relevant. You could try clicking on the links I gave above, you know. The list with Trong as No. 8 was published in numerous sources and certainly isn't alphabetical. The general secretary can be considered the leader of the party regardless of his Poliburo ranking or actual influence. That may explain Trong's position in the Nhan Dan photo layout. Notice that no numbers are given in the layout. Judging from the links you gave, Trong is now part of a ruling group of four or five leaders. So he has apparently moved up since the congress. Of course, that's not that same as being the boss, or even being a member of a ruling troika. Kauffner (talk) 09:40, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

- You haven't addressed the question of why Trong is listed in so many places as No. 8. There are various news stories about factional rivalry between Sang and Dung. Those make sense only if one or the other is head of the party. The pictures of the seating at the party conferences are certainly interesting, but of course we can't use them in the article. Ho was president and No. 1 on the Politburo when Le Duan was general secretary. In China, both Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping appointed various people as general secretary and later remove them. So general secretary is not necessarily the No. 1 position, either in Vietnam or in communist countries generally. I put the quote about Trong being one of the four key leaders in the article, although I am not sure what significance this has. After all, the presidium seating suggests a five-man ruling team. Kauffner (talk) 13:39, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
In the West, scrutiny
political order in the communist parties, while some say the president is a puppet, so the West want Sang to compete with Trong in the chair the General Secretary.
But for a long time, the party has to put in the general secretary, to the president. Competition between Sang and Dung just Western media painted, no. Due West click president is a puppet, so he sang in the published list politburo member had read his name on the game, just to prove he's not a puppet. His weight and trying to read the number 8.
But at the TV station and all means proclaim him the weight is 1 (nguyen Phu Trong). Leading order in the regulation of party general secretary is the number 1, 2nd president, general secretary to be out, the President chaired the work the politburo, and permanent member of the Secretariat chaired the work Secretariat.
Number 3 is the prime minister, the fourth president of the parliament and the 5 permanent member of the Secretariat.
China and Laos it, because the early identification of the state, while Vietnam party conference and parliamentary elections in different years should be buckled on the list of leaders, Nguyen Van An example is intended stay in the Secretariat,
as head of the central organizing committee, but then again Manh proposed instead his parliamentary chairman, withdraw from the Secretary should make the Secretary one month, and obviously the fourth position, not depend published list of top political office. similar position 2 of the Le Hong Anh, his previous tenure or 3 Phung Quang Thanh is just to play, he is always behind his five.

- You certainly follow this issue. It looks like the party leaders couldn't make up their minds for a few weeks. I have rewritten lead to incorporate what we have discussed. I noticed that Trong is routinely given as the chairman of the military commission in the Vietnamese-language news. I don't think that information has ever been reported in English. That would seem to settle the question of who is in charge. Kauffner (talk) 16:40, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
In Vietnam, General Secretary, President, Prime Minister, President of the National Assembly, permanent secretary is the key leaders, and always the highest rating, since No.6 --> by the assignment work of politburo. General Secretary (except as party president), of any communist party (Laos, China, Cuba, North Korea) are the highest positions.

Huh????
edit"On July 6, 2015, General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng arrived in the United States to begin his US visit to July 10. This is the first time a leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam has held office in the US Department of State, but has not held any official post in the Oval Office. This visit coincided with the milestone of 20 years since the United States and Vietnam normalized diplomatic relations. The talks with President Obama was about human rights, security and defense and the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic. Nguyễn Phú Trọng also talk about his concerns over China’s territorial claims in the South China Sea.[15]" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.3.32.143 (talk) 19:43, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
