Advert
editSimply, we have no secondary sources. We have not met WP:N. The only source is WP:SELFPUB. The two external links should be intergrated as sources and the article should be written from them with a careful eye to WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV. --Ronz (talk) 15:04, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
Given the promotional nature of the article and the lack of references, I have removed the additional link to nianow.com per WP:EL, WP:SPAM, and WP:NOT#LINK. --Ronz (talk) 15:09, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- It is almost borderline about whether the article should remain or be deleted, although it does appear to be offered in a number of cities--Vannin (talk) 16:00, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
This is a movement form which is practiced in a variety of places. I learned about it in More magazine and have participated in different studios in Austin and San Antonio. I am not a Wikipedia editor and have no idea how to improve this article to meet your editing guidelines because it seems that Wikipedia has a complicated set of rules, but if the idea is to find articles about the subject in publications that are not related to the subject, I can do so. It's been over three years, and we've one independent source that borders on a puff-piece. If no one is interested in doing the work to make this even resemble something encyclopedic, let's trim it down to a stub to address so it doesn't look like an advertisement. --Ronz (talk) 15:43, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
I dont know the history of this article. And I dont care. I wanted to know more about nia before practicing it and I saw, there is no adequate info in my usual source of information. I could add, what I saw, independent references are scarce, therefore I added the one part - business model - which I suppose no one knows at the start with nia and there is no interpretation. I'd like to kind of complete the article but would be even more interested in a comparison of different fitness disciplines like we have it on software tools. Actually I'm looking into Zumba. There the business model I didnt unerstand yet. --Rolerus (talk) 09:53, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- Without independent and reliable sources, it minimally violates WP:NPOV and WP:SOAP. --Ronz (talk) 17:07, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
July 2013 rewrite
editI don't think the rewrite is an improvement. We've one additional source that's rather promotional in nature. I've left it as is, restoring the advert and refimprove tags. I hope the new editor is interested in continuing to work on the article. I'm happy to help. --Ronz (talk) 23:53, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
March 2022 expansion
editTo this article I added the sections "Debbie Rosas", "What is Nia", "Nine Movements of Nia", and a "Typical Nia Class". Together these sections and the information I put under it helps give a lot more background information than was before. It allows the reader to know why Nia is what it is from the founder and why she decided to start it. Lets the reader know what it is if they've never heard of it before. The exercises that are performed while doing Nia. And explaining a typical Nia class helps give comfort to a beginner so they know what to expect and so more people will be willing to try Nia.Abbyprodente (talk) 16:42, 31 March 2022 (UTC)

Nia (fitness) → Nia Technique – Opening this request following a mentorship question on my Talk page. I'm neutral on the topic. asilvering (talk) 19:53, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
