Hi there! I've been a reader of Wikipedia for a few decades, an editor here for a few years, and an administrator for a few months. If you're curious about that last one, you can read my RfA debrief in the Signpost.
I can't guarantee that I will notice WP:REPLYTOOL replies or watchlist changes. If you need to get in touch with me, please ping me or leave a message on my Talk page. If I don't respond within 48 hours, you're welcome to ping again. If you need to reach me urgently, I'm on WP:DISCORD. ("Urgently" here means "in 48 hours, it will be too late", not "I would like a faster response", please.)
Stuff I work on:
- WP:AFC: mostly Literature, History, and Books.
- WP:AFD, especially Authors, Academics, and Literature.
- Maintenance tags for WP:@, WP:BOOKS, and WP:ELIT.
- Articles on Russian revolutionaries (redlist), Communards, and Geoffrey Chaucer.
- The Le Maitron redlist.
Are you new to Wikipedia...
- and looking for a satisfying task? Check out Category:Wikipedia introduction cleanup. You don't (or shouldn't) need to do any research to fix these articles - most of them are here because they are tagged with "lead too short". Find one of those, read the article, then rewrite the lead so it summarizes it accurately. Now you can remove the "lead too short" tag. Done! Since the "lead" is what is shown in Google Search results and so on, this is an immediately helpful and visible change. You've made the internet better already!
- and already have a strong background in writing and research? The Good Article process is always in need of new reviewers. If you're interested, consider acquiring a WP:GAMENTOR.
- and interested in translating articles to English? Make sure you read WP:HOWTRANS. Attribution is really important!
- and interested in writing biographies of women? Join WP:WIRED! It's a large and active wikiproject, and very welcoming to newcomers.
- and looking for help? Feel free to ask any questions on my Talk page. You can also ask at WP:TEA.
Being a new editor can be really hard. If I can make it easier for you, let me know.

If you have an article on a humanities topic languishing in the GA nominations queue because its sources are in French or German and no one wants to touch it, I'm happy to have a look - ask on my Talk page. If you're working on premodern literature or manuscripts in English, French, German, Latin, or any historical forms of those languages, I'm happy to help with or review for those at any time; just ask. CSD req for AfC acceptance: c:COM:HIRTLE; c:COM:Copyright rules by territory <small>(Ping me if you wish to reply to me directly.)</small> <small>Please use Template:Ping to reply to AfC reviewers! Thank you.</small> If you see any articles that use those as references, please edit the article and copy-paste Unreliable sources at the top. Thanks! Great, thank you! When you're ready to try to publish your article, you'll need to have it reviewed, rather than moving it to the mainspace yourself, because of your conflict of interest. Add draft to the top of your sandbox, then click the blue "submit for review" button when you're ready to add it to the review queue. Reviewers will be looking to make sure that your submission meets these two guidelines in particular: WP:NPOV and WP:NCORP. I'm sorry to tell you that WP:NCORP is a pretty high bar - you've started out editing Wikipedia in hard mode! But I wish you luck. If you need help, you can reply here, or ask at WP:TEA. -- Hi! I'll be taking this review. Signatures at the end for your convenience in replying. Feel free to push back against anything you disagree with - very few, if any, of the things I'll mention will individually be worth a GA fail on their own. Any changes too minor to bother you with, I'll just do directly in the article - but feel free to revert or question any of those as well. |
