Exchange Rate Dispute
editYea, this article is 100% wrong. I live in Nicaragua and those historical exchange rates for the Córdoba are 100% wrong too. They are not even close. The Nicaraguan Córdoba has not had an exchange rate below 19 cordobas per dollar all year long and it is approaching 20 very quickly, so I don't know how the current exchange rate could possible be 18.032 according to Yahoo Finances. The current exchange rate as established by the Central Bank of Nicaragua is 19.737 córdobas per dollar and I went to the bank today, for crying out loud. Visit this link and click where it says "TIPO DE CAMBIO" http://www.bcn.gob.ni/ --165.98.233.176 (talk) 02:34, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- I agree that the Yahoo numbers seem questionable. I just updated the page with numbers from all three services, which gives a better picture. One obvious possible reason for the difference would be whether the numbers are "bid", "ask", or some average of the two. Kevinbsmith (talk) 05:49, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Use of non-free images on this article
editThis article has been identified as containing an excessive quantity of non-free content. Per the Foundation's requirement to keep non-free media use minimal, and per Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria #3, the non-free images on this article have been removed. Please note:
- The presence of a fair use rationale for this article on an image description page does not make it acceptable for a given use.
- Blanket restoration of the non-free images that have been removed can and most likely will be reverted, with subsequent reporting action possible.
- If some restoration is desired, careful consideration of exactly what non-free media to use must be made, paying special attention to WP:NFCC #1 and #8. In most cases non-free media needs to be tied directly to the prose of the article, most preferably with inline citations tying the discussion to secondary sources regarding the image per Wikipedia:Verifiability.
If this is a list type article, please read the WP:NFLISTS guideline. If you wish to dispute this removal, it may be helpful to read WP:OVERUSE, as it answers a number of typical questions and responses to removals such as this. If after reading these, you still feel there is grounds for restoration of most or all of the media that have been removed, please post to Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. Regarding Banknotes on this Page
edit1. There is no free equivalent.
2. Respect for commercial opportunities is observed. The content in question does not replace the original market value of the original copyrighted media. See http://bcn.gob.ni/billetes_monedas/index.html?&val=1 and (for older banknotes in circulation): http://bcn.gob.ni/billetes_monedas/index.html?&val=2
3. Minimal usage is observed. Both sides of the currency are illustrated since currency have both a front and a back. There are no repeats of these images by which have been licensed as such. Resolution is also low in order to avoid copyright infringement.
4. Previous publication has been noted, along with educational materials at: http://bcn.gob.ni/billetes_monedas/index.html?&val=1
5. Content meets general Wiki standards and is noteworthy since it regards a topic of interest and is, indeed, encyclopedic.
6. Media-specific policy. As per Wikipedia:Non-free content and Wikipedia:Non-free content, the image in question meets the criteria established by the pages.
7. One-article minimum. Non-free content is used in at least one article. (Which it was until it was deleted off the page.)
8. Contextual significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. Purely decorative images are not appropriate. The statement provided by Wikipedia speaks for itself, as the picture provides further understanding to the Nicaraguan cordoba article.
9. Restrictions on location. The image is only on display on the article and not on discussion pages or anything other than the article.
10. Image description page. The image or media description page contains the following: Identification of the source of the material, supplemented, where possible, with information about the artist, publisher and copyright holder; this is to help determine the material's potential market value. See: Wikipedia:Citing sources#Multimedia. Yes
A copyright tag that indicates which Wikipedia policy provision is claimed to permit the use. For a list of image copyright tags, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free content. Yes
The name of each article (a link to each article is also recommended) in which fair use is claimed for the item, and a separate, specific non-free use rationale for each use of the item, as explained at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline. The rationale is presented in clear, plain language and is relevant to each use. Yes
Licenses and rationales for use have been updated as per request.Mbhskid520 (talk) 01:44, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
