Merge?
editAlthough nicely written, much of this article is simply discussing the general concept of adaptation. I think it could be sensibly merged into that article. T.Shafee(Evo&Evo)talk 10:40, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
- It's just an essay that wanders over several topics best covered elsewhere. I think it could be redirected without a merge. Chiswick Chap (talk) 10:46, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
- Closing this now. If anybody can see anything worth merging, feel free to discuss it. Chiswick Chap (talk) 07:28, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

This article was an assignment in a college undergraduate course. Lots of time, effort, and hard work went into this article. Yes it is a short summary, that was kind of the point. I don't see any reason why it needs to be merged with another article. Pleas give me my page back!!!! Ssraza (talk) 04:05, 8 August 2019 (UTC)
- This is not your page (read WP:OWN). This is an uneccessary content fork. Consider improving existing articles (e.g. adaptation) rather than duplicating existing material.Polyamorph (talk) 10:02, 8 August 2019 (UTC)
- Of course I don't own the page. That being said, this article is part of Wikipedia's education project. It is an important aspect of the site and its mission, please leave it be. Fine someplace else to mess with. Ssraza (talk) 02:06, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- Fine, I will nominate it for deletion to gauge consensus. Polyamorph (talk) 09:03, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Ssraza: It should be ok for your course marking to provide the specific pageid for the previous version of the page as you wrote it (918785710). The main reason I suggested a merge is not to destroy this page, but is to combine the best bits of the two articles. The aim is to avoid duplicating the same information in two different places where both have to be maintained and readers might not find both. What'd be ideal for the encyclopedia would be if you are happy to assist in improving the adaptation article (and a little bit on niche construction). - Well said. It seems clear that between Adaptation, Ecological niche, and indeed also Niche construction, the topic is sufficiently covered for the current text not to be needed as a separate article. There is however always scope for improvement and updating even of well-developed articles such as those I've mentioned. Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:48, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
