His birth name
editThe sentence Nicolai Harry Gustav Gedda (Nikolaj Ustinov in Russian) was born in ... is very unclear. It suggests that "Gedda" is pronounced "Ustinov" in Russian, whereas what we're trying to say is that his birth name was Ustinov, and he chose to use his mother's maiden name (or possibly her married name from her first marriage) Gedda as his professional surname. Some sources say that Ustinov was his step-father, not his birth father - which might lead one to believe he was born a Gedda, later became a Ustinov, and reverted to Gedda when he became a singer. This may be true for all I know. Is there any good information about the history of his name changes? -- JackofOz (talk) 01:58, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- So, it seems to be much clearer now. -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 20:08, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
Swedish Nobility?
editOne of the categories for this article is 'Swedish nobility'. I see nothing in the article to indicate that Gedda is a Swedish noble. Am I missing something? Cdixon (talk) 20:48, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Inappropriate external link
editI have removed the following commentary from the article which was added by the IP 77.137.146.100:
I would like to express my strong protest to this editor who, with his arrogance (characteristic of many Wikipedia editors), has deleted a link to a high-quality animated film that expresses great appreciation and respect for the opera singer. That's why I will not donate to Wikipedia.
This IP is protesting that his/her repeated attempts to add a link to an animated YouTube video that violates the guidelines at Wikipedia:External links have been reverted. For the record, the video can be seen here. It provides zero information relevant to expanding or improving the article and the audio is a possible copyright violation. Its main purpose appears to be publicizing the animation studio which made the video. Voceditenore (talk) 10:43, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
