I think it is odd to begin a sentence with 2015–16. Can it be changed to the 2015–16 season?
Same with 2016–17
I don't know if you can say His season output was considered a disappointment by many when the reference is just one guy (Dougherty).

Please move reference 24 to after the comma on on to beat the Checkers in the division finals. I don't see why it needs to be at the end
