Revolutionary calendar
editthis article uses the date naming conventions used in France at the time of the events it describes. This is something that would be transparent to anyone who took history in the French school system but I am not sure how confusing this is to English speakers. I wikilinked a few of the month names but right now I really am just looking at how much work the article needs, not trying to work on it in any systematic way. This is one of the questions I have Elinruby (talk) 03:37, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
- The best practice then is to keep the Republican calendar date in the text, and add in brackets the equivalent Gregorian date for readability, e.g. 9 thermidor (27 July 1794). This is indeed indispensable for readers to understand what's going on. Place Clichy (talk) 19:30, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
