Spelling

Is his name really spelled with the Swedish/German letter ö, and not with the Danish ø, and if so, is there a reason for this? /Dcastor (talk) 22:25, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

His name is really spelled both ways in reliable sources, possibly due to publishing in German. A (very) quick glance appears to show that as a normal person his name is spelled with ø and as a mathematician his name is spelled with a ö, similar perhaps to Sofia Kovalevskaya/Kowaleski.

Alfred Nobel reference?

Can anyone explain why a link to Alfred Nobel's page is provided in the end of the article? There is no mention of one's name in the other's page, neither could I find any other connection in other places. Judging by the fact that when Alfred Nobel died, Nørlund was 11 years old, it seems hard to even find one such. @Rdov: Well spotted! Apart from having a Nobel laureate brother-in-law, Nørlund had no connection to the dynamite maker. The item was added to the list by a Dutch IP last year without explanation. Favonian (talk) 09:34, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
