Nikita Shchitov → Nikita Schitov –
- Support - per WP:COMMONNAME as verified by the sources used in the article. Dolovis (talk) 13:12, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose. One of two English language external links uses Shitov, one Schitov. For a Russian player for a Russian team, where there seems to be no consensus as to simplified English language transliterations, seems to make sense to default to the standard transliteration from Cyrillics. - Not true, the original researched transliteration from Cyrillic is unverifiable. I can find no sources to support that spelling. The name is verifiably spelled as either “Shitov” or “Schitov”, but never as “Shchitov” which is unverifiable; so the article should be reverted back to its status quo title of “Nikita Schitov”. - Weird. Hunted up a bit more on google (not being a hockey fan I have a hard time judging the reliability of the sources) and find reputable-looking English language sources for both Schitov and Shchitov. So I decided to look it up in Cyrillics, and - guess what - I find google mentions for both Никита Сцhитов and Никита Щитов. I would ask someone with better familiarity than me to sort out what name he writes for himself. If it is Сцhитов then we should write S-ch-itov; if Щитов, then Sh-ch-itov, I would think...we *might* have something to debate about if a specific transliteration of his name into English was clearly dominant, but does not seem to me to be the case. I note that ru.wikipedia has him under Щитов. But I defer to the wisdom of hockey fans... Martinp (talk) 19:05, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

- Oppose Щитов not Сцhитов. The latter is not even Russian cyrillic; I think Serbian, but I am not sure. The official website say Shchitov. The "Щ" is "Shch"; see also WP:RUS. If "Shitov", it would be "Шитов". "Schitov" is German transliteration of "Ш".--♫GoP♫TCN 19:27, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- "Считов" (pronounced identically) would also be "Schitov", I think. The Сцhитов spelling seems like a mistake, interpreting "Schitov" as a transliteration from the one of the alphabets that use shha. Jafeluv (talk) 16:22, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose per GreatOrangePumpkin. -DJSasso (talk) 11:47, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose, per above. There's no established English spelling, so we use the default transliteration. Unlike the nominator claims, there are sources that use the "Shchitov" spelling, including the league's website. Jafeluv (talk) 16:22, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
