vs. Canon EOS 1d Mk IV

edit

"There are comparisons with the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV, which is rated with 1.3 stops lower by DxOMark on their Low-light ISO score (1320 vs. 3253 for the D3s).[1]"

Here is the formula: (log(3253)/log(2)) - (log(1320)/log(2)) = 1.301232893

NB: the previous figure in the article said the canon was 1.7 stops lower iso. This is true if you look at the image quality of a photo produced by the Nikon @ 100000 iso, which is extreme, unlike the low-light iso score.

A couple of questions

edit
  1. Is the name of the camera spelt "D3s" or "D3S"?
  2. Is this camera intended to replace the D3?

The Nikon PDF uses D3S. Raysonho (talk) 14:12, 14 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Should we consider changing the name of the article to "Nikon D3S" then? Black Sabre (talk) 06:06, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Difficult. Look at Nikon Logo D3s. Wispanow (talk) 06:49, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Even more so when Nikon's own press release says "D3S". [1] Black Sabre (talk) 08:47, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
As Nikon uses "D3S" in the PDF and the press release, we should switch to the "correct" name. I will move the page if there are no other reasons to keep the name as "D3s". Raysonho (talk) 14:28, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
In the past, Nikon uses small letters: Nikon archives. Now they are using mostly (Exception see gif above, this image, this and a few others) capitals. But: If you think it is necessary to change it (i traditionally prefer small letters), then you should change the D300s too.
And please change the Template:Nikon_DSLR_cameras. Wispanow (talk) 19:29, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Template trouble

edit

These templates are being annoying. The article is under Nikon Digital Camera List, Full-frame DSLR cameras, DSLR cameras with movie mode, but you have to show Nikon Digital Camera List before you can see the others. So if anyone knows how to fix this, please do. --The High Fin Sperm Whale (talk) 17:21, 22 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Now the templates are working fine. I don't know why they were acting weird last time. --The High Fin Sperm Whale (talk) 16:50, 26 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

1.3 stops lower

edit

which is rated 1.3 stops lower by DxOMark on their low-light ISO score (1320 ISO vs. 3253 ISO for the D3s). ca we expand on this a bit for those people not so fluent in the language of camera terms, i could not even determine if that meant it was better or worse; and i am semi-pro. thanks Overseer19XX (talk) 18:56, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

NASA

edit

Would it be worth adding File:Cupola above the darkened Earth.jpg to the article where the ISS cameras are mentioned? As the Exif data shows this to be the camera used for that photo. Unrecoverable (talk) 02:49, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
