Mentioning released software

edit

Currently, the article mentions two games that have been released - Excitebike and Pokédex 3D. In the future, more software will be released, and writing a sentence about all of them might not be a good method of describing them. I think we should remove the part that mentions Excitebike and Pokédex 3D, but where should we mention them instead? Is there a page that's a list of 3DS software? JosJuice (talk) 20:06, 24 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes there is a page called "List of Nintendo 3DS games" where those titles are mentioned. --User:Broojo02 —Preceding undated comment added 13:53, 29 August 2011 (UTC).Reply

Nintendo Video

edit

I don't think Nintendo Video should have its own section on this page, it should be under 3DS Download Software. --User:Broojo02 —Preceding undated comment added 13:57, 29 August 2011 (UTC).Reply

New Logo?

edit

Has anyone noticed from the last two Nintendo Directs that the Nintendo eShop's logo is a little different now? Nintendo possibly changed the logo's typeface slightly for the Wii U release. Hope(N Forever) (talk) 19:05, 7 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wii U VC

edit

In this article, it says that WiiWare and VC titles are available on the Wii U eShop, but they aren't. You need to buy them on the Wii Shop Channel in Wii Mode. I'd suggest changing this, with a note to indicate the alternative availability. DarkToonLink (talk) 02:39, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Done Take a look at the section now and see if that improves things. --McDoobAU93 16:03, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cost of 3D Classics

edit

The article states that 3D Classics are Free and Purchase, however they are only available for purchase. The times thay have been free have only been special promotions (I got Excitebike free at the launch of the eShop and Kid Icarus as a Club Nintendo thing) and they are all techically only purchasable items. DarkToonLink (talk) 09:21, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

First, you're right about these only being free through specific promotions. Second, per WP:NOPRICES, I'm not sure such information should be included at all. All that should be there is its availability, not its cost (or lack thereof). --McDoobAU93 16:05, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I agree that a specific price shouldn't be listed, however I think the Free/Purchase column should be included to show what is included with the eShop, but I don't think removing it would hurt the article too much. DarkToonLink (talk) 02:44, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

3D Classics as a category

edit

I'm somewhat uneasy about the inclusion of 3D Classics in the article as its own category. I appreciate that Nintendo hyped it up - and initially made it sound like a separate entity, alongside Virtual Console and Download Software - but it's no more its own category than the Game & Watch or Electroplankton titles, in all honesty. All the games in the series are officially classified as Nintendo 3DS Download Software in Nintendo eShop and on official Nintendo websites. Space Harrier and Super Hang-On have never been named, by Nintendo or SEGA, as entries in the 3D Classics series; the only reason they're thrown in is because independent sites label them so because they're 3D remakes of classic titles, in the same vein as the others. I'd like to suggest removing 3D Classics as its own category as a result - it's all Nintendo 3DS Download Software and doesn't belong to any subcategory. Any thoughts? DreamWorks Animation shorts are no longer available

edit

Has anybody else noticed that the three 3D shorts DreamWorks Animations released via the Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo 3DS are no longer available for purchase/download? What could this mean about Nintendo's original announcement when they mentioned planning to discuss deals with various film companies to release their content for purchase via the Nintendo eShop, especially the feature length 3D films? In addition, when was the last time the Nintendo Video app received any 3D movie trailer content? Could this have anything to do with services like Netflix coming up with 3D support for supported devices? Hope(N Forever) (talk) 15:39, 13 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

That's an interesting observation, however unless there are some reliable sources saying so then those questions may count as WP:OR. Thanks, DarkToonLinkHeyaah! 11:39, 18 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hepburn Rōmaji

edit

Currently the Nihongo template at the start of the article looks like this: Nintendo eShop (ニンテンドーeショップ, Nintendō e-Shoppu). The Japanese writing itself is correct, although I am unsure about the Rōmaji. The letter 'e' as used in the Japanese script here, when the word is pronounced in Japanese, would be spoken with the same 'ee' sound as in English. However, when Japanese is written in Rōmaji, the letter 'e' represents an 'eh' sound. (Japanese phonology#Vowels). It's because of this that I think it may technically be more accurate to list the romanisation as 'Nintendō Ī-Shoppu', as the letter 'i' actually produces the 'ee' sound in Japanese. There didn't seem to be a rule about this at WP:MOSJA so I'll see if anyone has something to say about this. How it currently is seems fine, although a revision could be considered. Thanks, DarkToonLinkHeyaah! 11:34, 18 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

I also think that an ī (or uppercase Ī) would be better. Most other articles write it that way, for instance Mega CD, which uses "Shī Dī" as a romanization of "CD". JosJuice (talk) 07:17, 19 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
That makes sense; that isn't written in the Latin alphabet (Shī Dī) using the Latin letters from the Japanese name (CD), as the Romanisation is all about pronounciation, so I will swap 'e' for an 'ī', as the same principle applies here. Thanks for your input! DarkToonLinkHeyaah! 12:21, 19 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Updated article draft

edit

Hi there, I've been working on a new version of this article, primarily focusing on the removal of data that isn't particularly useful and cleaning up the rest of the information. I've recently updated this to include Nintendo Switch and would like to know your thoughts, as to whether any further improvements can be made and whether it could potentially replace the existing article as a tidier, more concise version in the future. You can find this at Draft:Nintendo eShop. Thank you! Jack talk 17:08, 11 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Virtual Console on Nintendo Switch

edit

Nintendo Switch has no direct VC itself. There's the Nintendo Switch Online apps for NES/SNES, which I wouldn't quantify as VC, and then there's all of the various emulated collections and Arcade Archives. I'm really confused as to why most of the entries say "discontinued" in the table. --Thunderbird8 (talk) 17:43, 6 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
