Merge

Should this be merged with Imidogen the same molecule? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:12, 11 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge with Imidogen

edit

These are the same compound, so I suggest to merge the two articles. Whether this should arrive at Imidogen, Hydridonitrogen or Nitrogen monohydride should be determined by our common naming rules and/or consensus. Dirk Beetstra T C 06:49, 10 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Or possibly azanediyl, or λ1-azane! Though for understandability, Nitrogen monohydride would be simplest. Hydridonitrogen is not used much at all either. But imidogen seems to be used a lot more in writings. So I am supporting a merge to imidogen as final name. Actually NH seems to be a very common term, without trying to nme the molecule: https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&num=20&as_sdt=0%2C5&q="NH"+nitrogen+star+spectrum, but this is a bit too ambiguous to use. (I moved this page nitrogen monohydride to where it is from Interstellar nitrogen monohydride, but I should have merged it then. However I was not aware of the imidogen page.) I support a merge under Imidogen as the first step; moving Imidogen should be a different point question.
I oppose 'nitrogen monohydride' as it refers to any compound with the same empirical formula and is therefore a more vague name of the proposals
I oppose 'azanediyl' as it technically refers only to NH in a triplet state, or to a >NH bridging group.
I support 'imidogen', 'hydridonitrogen' and 'λ1-azane' as they are all specific and correct. I prefer 'imidogen' as it is most common. Plasmic Physics (talk) 14:24, 10 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Nitrogen monohydrideImidogen – The general consensus regarding the destination page according to the above merging proposal has not been established with certainty, but tended toward 'Imidogen'. Plasmic Physics (talk) 05:45, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

No Instead we should be merging the content there, and converting this to a redirect. The content at Imidogen is worth preserving. This page started life just about interstellar molecules, a very narrow topic. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:35, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I ran the merge the other direction, into nitrogen monohydride. The interstellar stuff is compressed but largely intact. In a few hours during lunch break, I will reverse my work. Hoping to find some more general references too.--Smokefoot (talk) 12:49, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thankyou, we have ended up with what we want. I added a couple of the obscure names as redirects. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:40, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm removing the "move" template, since the current title is now a redirect and there's nothing to move. Dekimasuよ! 00:01, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
