suspected perpetrator
editis it needed for the fact that the perpetrator is unknown to be in the infobox? a few IPs think so, yet I disagree. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Caleb The Wipper (talk • contribs) 20:21, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
The suspect has been identified by the Hamilton County prosecutor in a press release. Some media outlets are still withholding the name based on their own policy of not identifying juveniles. So what is Wikipedia policy? Do you want the suspect's name in the article or not? Edknol (talk) 17:30, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
[1] says that due to Indiana law, that the suspect, being 13, is too young too have an adult trial, so his name won't be released. So my question is do other articles about school shootings where the name of the perpetrator is confidential have a suspected perpetrator entry in their info box?
The name actually has been revealed, but is not being widely distributed as shown by the statement "The Hamilton County Prosecutor has released the name of the 13-year-old suspect, but RTV6 does not name juvenile offenders unless they are charged as adults."[2] Edknol (talk) 05:30, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
- That is correct, the local prosecutor’s office has now publicly released the suspect’s name. Some newspapers, eg New York Daily News, have publicly reported it too, but most are still withholding this info because he is a minor and is not being charged as an adult. I wonder what we should do here... Anyone has any opinions? Nsk92 (talk) 11:25, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
In that case, where is the name of the perpetrator?Caleb The Wipper (talk) 15:27, 7 June 2018 (UTC) I would add that to the info box, but I need a sourceCaleb The Wipper (talk) 20:08, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- I added a discussion section regarding the name at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard#Noblesville West Middle School shooting. Nsk92 (talk) 18:33, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
- The relevant guideline here is WP:BLPCRIME, which states "For relatively unknown people, editors must seriously consider not including material—in any article—that suggests the person has committed, or is accused of having committed, a crime, unless a conviction has been secured." So the answer is no, don't include the name. --Nat Gertler (talk) 21:02, 13 June 2018 (UTC)

Name?
editThe perpetrator has been convicted and sentenced for his crime. Numerous media outlets have identified him. Is it all right to add the name now?

Category:2018 mass shootings in the United States
editWhy is this article in Category:2018 mass shootings in the United States? The related list page (List of mass shootings in the United States in 2018) only includes shootings where at least 4 people were shot. In the Noblesville Shooting, only 2 people were shot, so why is it listed under the aforementioned category? Caleb The Wipper (talk) 01:59, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
- I removed it as there is no discussion establishing consensus for it. Hopefully, that discussion can ensue here, or no one will care. John from Idegon (talk) 02:07, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
