When Wikipedia was just getting started, I thought it would be unreliable as a source of information. Over the years, I changed my mind. I now tend to use it as one of the first places to look for information. For one thing, it is not supported by advertising and therefor does not have click-bait disguised as news stories. Also Wikipedia has a lot of references, to check the source of the information. And when wrong information is posted on Wikipedia it is usually corrected very quickly by someone more in the know.
As an update, I have to say that some political topics on Wikipedia are blatantly biased and should not be relied on. This is sad considering that Wikipedia is such a good source of information on non-political topics.
