Talk:Node-to-node data transfer

Latest comment: 14 years ago by Johnuniq in topic Deletion of this article?

This article talks a lot about things that come before and after channel coding. (I'm just as guilty, for adding a summary of the "modulation" step.) Shouldn't we trim this article down -- focus on channel coding -- and move all the other text to some other article that gives an overview of the whole process ? Perhaps telecommunication ? --DavidCary 30 June 2005 14:32 (UTC)

There wasn't really anything left in this article when the overview had been taken out, so I renamed it accordingly and made the old name (Channel coding) into a redirect to Error correction and detection. --PrologFan | Talk 22:36, 13 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of this article?

edit

Since the article is an orphan, and the term is not very common in research papers (only 32 hits in scholar.google.com), I suggest that the should be deleted. Many other more popular articles cover the topic, e.g. data link, data transmission, channel (communications) and point-to-point (telecommunications). You possibly know that your suggestion can be implemented (preferably after some discussion) by deciding on the best article (i.e. which of your four), then merging information from here to there (with an edit summary stating that the text comes from Node-to-node data transfer, including the link). Then replace this article with a redirect to the target. If you have a specific suggestion, I will think more carefully about it. The proper procedure is to place {{Merge to}} on this article, and {{Merge from}} on the other. Johnuniq (talk) 00:39, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
