Some of the citations needed

As a student of the school, I can confirm some of the stuff, although finding actual citations may be tough. I think 'police riot vans' is being a bt melodramatic - but the police are often to be seen outside to prevent any fights with students from Merrill. I don't know about the teenage pregnancy rates, but it definitely does have an anti-social behaviour problem which could (I suppose) be linked to the areas it covers, although who's suggested that? If it's the Derby Evening Telegraph or someone, I don't think they're a high authority on the subject. The 'worst in the city' thing in the 1980s is definitely true, that is, unless the school staff themselves made up or exaggerated the state it was in before Mr Wynne came. No idea whether Ivan Gaskell or Lee Williamson attended, but I do know that James Mousley did. Whether or not he is notable is another matter entirely. I also know Steve Elliott (Bristol Rovers footballer) attended, so I shall add him (but with a citation needed thingamajig, for anyone who doubts me). I've also asked for a citation with regards to the comments about girls breaking uniform laws, since it seems a little un-neutral and opinionated. This is all pure rubbish. I attend this school and it is nothing like what has been wrote here. My mother has been teaching there for 15yrs and has seen the improvements. She stated that it is nothin like what has been written. She said quote "utter tripe![1]"

Well I also attend this school and to be blunt, you're wrong. My friends and I have suffered five years there and I can't wait to get shot of the place. It has not improved at all and our year is predicted lower GCSE results than last year, which would suggest to me that the school is actually getting worse. Most, not all I hasten to add, of the teachers are disinterested and incompetent and have irreparably screwed up at least one of my GCSE subjects. For the other subjects I have had to put in massive amounts of work and study at home in order to achieve the grades that I am capable of, and I know most of my friends will second this. The mentality of the school is not to get everyone to achieve the best grades they can, but to get them to achieve a C grade so the school looks good. This is fine for pupils who can only achieve these grades but for those who are aiming for Bs, A and A*s, well quite frankly that's tough. The school is not interested in helping them because they will achieved a pass and that's all the school cares about. This is not the attitued of a successful school leadership, and I challenge anyone to disagree with that. Everything in this article is true, from the riot vans to the chav culture."[2]
