Shades of Blue

What shade exactly is non-photo blue? Most other hue/shade pages have at least an image of the shade in question. Maybe a photo of non-photo blue pencils would be keen. LordAmeth (talk) 05:37, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

digital processing

Probably not the place for this, because it is original research, but the article seems to contain a lot of that anyway. It seems to me like the easiest way to get rid of the blue markings in a scanned image would be to scan it in color and then erase the blue channel in Photoshop. Then all you would have to do is desaturate. Seems to me like it should be less lossy than the contrast based method, and more importantly less fiddly. I haven't tried it because I don't have this type of pencil. Success would depend on the scanner's ability not to colorshift the blue into other channels, so YMMV. Merger proposal

I propose that Blue pencil (editing) be merged into this article. I think that the content in the Blue pencil article can easily be explained in the context of this article, and that this article's size is of reasonable enough that a merge will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. • Disagree, blue pencils have been part of the copyediting process since at least the 19th century and the ready availability of colored pencils. "Blue pencil" has been a synonym for Bowdlerize when pencils were dark blue. Non-Photo blue comes into general use only when photocopiers become available.
