Multiple changes
editI made a number of changes to this article.
- The lead of the article refered to "selective" rather than "specifc" serotonergic antidepressants. I changed this to "specific" for consistency with the title.
- Previously the article stated that NaSSAs are agonists for "specific serotonin" which struck me as nonsense (what is "specific serotonin")? My understanding, based on the mirtazapine article, is that NaSSAs are specific because they have affinity only for certain serotonin receptors. Changed the article to reflect this.
Questions for someone with more knowledge about this:
- Is mirtazapine an example of a NaSSA, or is it (currently at least) the only NaSSA? This should be clarified.
- Do NaSSAs by definition have affinity for 5-HT2 and 5-HT3, but not 5-HT1A and 1B? Or is this just mirtazapine, and other NaSSAs could have affinity for different serotonin receptors? In the article, I wrote as if the latter is true, but I'm not sure, so please correct this if I am wrong.
Merge?
editI say merge this with SNRI because there's no clear difference on wiki and off as to the differences. The structure is different-TeCA v. SNRI-but it seems like a marketing gimmick to me, and this type of drug is already listed...71.247.102.31 (talk) 02:08, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
