Honor Killings

edit

I was relieved to find out that Norma Khouri's Honor Lost/Forbidden Love was a hoax. Relieved because the story she presented was so real and so sad, I was glad to find out it was not true. I am glad that the rate of honor killings in Jordan is much lower than the figure she stated-maybe 20 a year, rather than thousands.

However, one is too much. I commend her for writing this book because it opened many people's eyes to the horror of honor killings, and may inspire more to protect women and end this horrible practice. Let's not be PC and ignore the fact that women in the Middle East are murdered by their own families, and also genitally mutilated.

Now, in Western countries, some of our native born girls have been killed by their parents of Middle Eastern Muslim background for taking on Western ways and thinking they have rights, and can dress as they choose to and to date. This is intolerable.

Thank you, again, Norma Bagain Toliopoulus for writing this book. I can see why you presented it as fact, as it is a fact of life for many women.

Let us do all we can to end this evil on our planet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clodya (talkcontribs) 05:36, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Her religion

edit

The article states she attended a Catholic school. Is she a lifelong Catholic? It is very relevant, especially considering the theme and content of her book Forbidden Love. Werdnawerdna (talk) 00:55, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
