Should this be merged to Scientific notation?
editThis single-source article is currently incomprehensible unless someone first reads Scientific notation (or previously knew its content), and currently does not say anything that isn't already in the section Scientific notation § Normalized notation; this makes it superfluous, in my opinion. It doesn't seem that useful or even notable as a stand-alone concept.
If nobody has ideas about something significant more to say about this topic, I wonder if it wouldn't be better to just redirect this title to Scientific notation § Normalized notation. That section could still grow to 2–3x its current size without growing out of scope for that page.
Doing a literature search, I can't find many pre-Wikipedia sources discussing this topic under this name. Most of the sources popping up are using "normalized number" as a synonym for normal number in discussing (mostly binary) floating-point. –jacobolus (t) 20:04, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
