Literal meaning
editArticle needs literal meaning of province name, and Han Tu. Badagnani
Han-Tu
editSince 1945, Hán Tự has not been an official character in Vietnam any more, instead a Romanization system of Quốc Ngữ has been in use therefore, this article name has nothing to do with Han-Tu, therefore, Han-Tu should be removed from this article.Genghiskhanviet 03:50, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- We all know that. However, those characters were used to record official business and assign place names in Vietnam for hundreds, if not well over 1,000 years (compared to the United States' only 200 years of history as a nation). Despite this official change, the characters are of great significance to understanding the deep, historical meaning of these toponyms, and people do come here looking for this information. For places such as Dak Lak, whose names are not of Sino-Vietnamese origin, of course we would never use Hán Tự, however. Badagnani 04:03, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
