My name is Elizabeth Gayle {Smillie} Cornell. I have in my possession a heavy bronze plaque which reads IN MEMORY OF P.McKERCHER & W.A. SMILLIE OFFICERS OF THIS BRANCH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 to 1919 This plaque is approx 24" X 20" and was saved from destruction by Walter Smillie, brother of W.A. Smillie when an old building was demolished in Maxville prior to 1950. I assume it was a Legion or Servicemans club. If you wish to have this important piece of history returned please advise by return message.
