Notable alumni

@Taylormade2000: Since you have resorted to juvenile insults, I will start the discussion. Please read WP:ALUMNI, which is a guideline for alumni lists. These lists should only include notable figures (i.e, that meet WP:JOURNALIST or other notability criteria), and must include citations demonstrating a) their affiliation with the school and b) their notability if they don't have a linked article. I removed the people without links because they do not appear to meet notability criteria - being an editor for a large publication does not automatically confer notability - and there was no citation to demonstrate otherwise.

You need to stop edit warring, and you need to stop removing unquestionably useful information like the coordinates that I added. Please either self-revert, or add citations that demonstrate clear notability and affiliation with the school. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 19:56, 3 June 2021 (UTC)

@Pi.1415926535: First, there's a difference between insults and facts. You're wrong, being an editor for a large publication does confer a certain degree of notability. John Simons, executive editor of Time Magazine, doesn't have a Wikipedia page and he is indeed a notable person whether or not some lazy Wikipedia editor decides he is. That's like saying just because someone is a Congressman doesn't mean they're notable. They may not be Speaker of the House, but the position in and of itself gives notoriety. It's not like this article listed journalists from publications like The Paducah Sun. But alas, that's not the issue. The issue you fail to recognize is just because someone doesn't have a Wikipedia page, doesn't mean they aren't notable. It just means the editors on Wikipedia haven't written about them. Case in point, this entire journalism school has existed for more than 50 years in a major city, producing Pulitzer Prize winners. Yet, no one on Wikipedia wrote about it until I chose to do so a few weeks ago. It not having a Wikipedia page didn't make it NOT notable.

If you had looked closely, instead of allowing your ego to get the best of you, you would have seen that I compromised and got rid of some alumni who may not be hugely known. Furthermore, I did not remove useful information you put in there. On the contrary, your reversions eliminated other changes I made.

If you are serious about removing the names of alumni, faculty and others listed on college Wikipedia pages who don't have their own articles, then start doing it to other articles. Here are just a few some to help you get started. When you finish with those, I'll give you some more since this is an issue you feel is so important. You do want to be fair and by the book, don't you?
