Major Overhaul
editI'm starting work on a major overhaul of this page. I've added an info box, a statistics section which includes demographic, graduation, and some other data; as well as an image of a game at the new fields. I also removed what I felt was some subjective and possibly inaccurate text from the overview:
Nottingham is a fairly effective high school; even though it is a city school, the connotations associated with an inner-city high school seem to be conspicuously absent from it.
Again, I feel this is a subjective assessment, and, in fact, the point of The World We Created at Hamilton High is that Nottingham became the quintessence of an urban school (i.e. racial conflict, academic performance issues, etc.) over the time the book studied. (As a side note, Hamilton High is a legitimate academic text, and Nottingham's role in it is worth expanding upon in this article.) I also removed a list of names of well performing students. While their accomplishments are certainly noteworthy, listing students' names is not common practice for high school pages in general, or for public or private high schools in the area in particular (see Corcoran, FM, CBA).
In the next few days I plan on adding an image of the front of the building and the school seal to the info box. I'd also like to overhaul the overview at the beginning of the article, possibly removing some of the history there to a separate history section. The facilities section should be expanded, possibly including some details and pictures of the renovations to the auditorium, and details on the athletic facilities. Possibly a picture of a typical classroom?
Some references regarding the "music and arts" focus would be helpful. What makes Nottingham's music and arts programs special (added funding, awards, etc.)? I also feel like adding an athletics section would be helpful, Nottingham is a large high school that competes in many sports.
On yet another note, I feel the name of the article should be changed to "William Nottingham High School", this is more accurate because it includes the school's whole name, and removes the word senior which I have been able to find referenced in any source. --Icejacket (talk) 10:07, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with you on all this, especially the name change to William Nottingham High School. I've never seen "senior" either. Note that there is a Nottingham High School in the UK so we might want some kind of redirect/disambiguation from that. --Cam (talk) 14:15, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
assess
editMain priority is an info box. Referenced sub-topics still required - longer history?. Are all alumni in the last 40 years? Some pics... Victuallers 22:31, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

It should be noted that although the school's address is 3100 E. Genesee St., there is no entrance or exit from E. Genesee St. The main entrance/exit is on Meadowbrook Drive, there is a pool entrance on Kimber Rd., and the sports fields are on Euclid Ave. If you are on E. Genesee St., you have to cross to Meadowbrook at least a block before the school entrance. Zorfox2002 17:18, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Note on The World We Created at Hamilton High
editAs per the Atlantic and the Christian Science Monitor, the school described at The World We Created at Hamilton High is really Nottingham High. Therefore any time that book talks about Hamilton High, it's talking about this school. Of course one can then cite the book to describe the school's history.
