edit1) currently Apostolic Nuncios and Apostolic Delegates are always Titular Archbishops (in the past, apostolic delegates were sometimes simply titular bishops). 2) Since 1994, new appointments have removed the distinctions between Nuncios, Inter-Nuncios, and Pro-Nuncios. The last two titles are no longer used in the sense mentioned in the article. 3) The term Inter-Nuncio is now sometimes used for the interm head of a nunciature. (For the time when one Nuncio had retired or moved and a new one is named.)
- I've fixed some of the above, but it still needs a good bit of work. Some of it makes no sense currently.--Dcheney 03:44, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Apostolic/Papal nuncio should be split
editThis should be the main article for all types of nuncios and their should be a daughter article for apostolic nuncios. savidan(talk) (e@) 01:14, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- I disagree. Four little stubs about what are degrees of the same thing is not as useful as a single article, where the differences can be described in the proper context. Additionally, the "other" nuncios all had the adjetive "apostolic" attached as well, such as an apostolic pro-nuncio, apostolic internuncio, etc. Gentgeen 22:49, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
- I Second the Gentgeen motion Fastifex 08:56, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- I disagree - I think that the entire article is relevant to the title.--68.32.11.74 01:31, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Gentgeen. Tempshill 03:36, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- Keep it as it is. There is nothing wrong with this article. Dr mindbender 20:26, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Vacancy of the Apostolic See
editWhen the Apostolic See is vacated, do the nuncios automatically get suspended like other Vatican officials? All I know is that the Prefects and Presidents of Pontifical Councils get suspended while the Secretaries and lower-ranking officials keep their posts. In other countries, ambassadors automatically are out when the home administration changes, so do Vatican ambassadors change with Papal administrations too?J.J. - According to Universi Dominici Gregis #21, "In the same way, the office and attendant powers of Papal Representatives do not lapse." In other words, Nuncios retain their office.--Dcheney 03:07, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Title
editI've reverted the move made today, as the previous title had been in place for over three years without any recorded objections. Please use the RM proces in the future. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 23:50, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

Papal diplomacy → Nuncio – The article was moved without discussion 3 years ago, but if this is an article on Papal diplomacy it's pretty weak. It is in fact just an article on the office of nuncio (and similar offices). Contrast Byzantine diplomacy. Srnec (talk) 01:03, 11 April 2019 (UTC)--Relisting. B dash (talk) 02:16, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
- Support because yeah, this is an article about the office, not its mandate. Safrolic (talk) 01:44, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
- Support per well-reasoned nomination. The current title does not reflect the contents of this article (a subset of papal legate), and should probably redirect to foreign relations of the Holy See. — AjaxSmack 03:00, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
