How do you knock on the lower left hand portion of an infinitely long wall
editIf the wall extends forever, how can you ever reach the lower left hand corner? Am I misunderstanding this? 76.216.161.61 (talk) 08:46, 10 June 2016 (UTC)
Sources
editSo we have sources that make a claim but don't cite anything. How exactly are they reliable? Gune (talk) 22:48, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
Article Expansion
editThis article is very short and has very little information about the historical background and differing interpretations of this yokai, which I read about while looking for sources. A big part that's missing from this article is the connection between popular representation of this yokai and manga artist Mizuki Shigeru. I think it could use some clarification as far as what the limits of the wall are, as well as minor additions such as the kanji for the Japanese name of the yokai, and a translation of it.
Here are some sources I found for adding information to this article:
- The Book of Yokai: Mysterious Creatures of Japanese Folklore by Michael Dylan Foster[1]
- The yokai in the database: supernatural creatures and folklore in manga and anime by Deborah Shamoon[Academic OneFile 1]
- Digital Daijisen Plus entry on Nurikabe -- http://japanknowledge.com/lib/en/display/?lid=5091000977070 (I'm not really sure how to cite this)
- Yokai Attack!: The Japanese Monster Survival Guide by Hiroko Yoda and Matt Alt[2]
- and possibly Japandemonium Illustrated: The Yokai Encyclopedias of Toriyama Sekien by Hiroko Yoda and Matt Alt[3] (I'm not entirely certain this contains information on nurikabe specifically, but I will check)
Let me know if you have any advice for this bibliography so far! Roxanne Fitzwilliam (talk) 05:54, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
