What is the common name?

edit

This name seems to be much rarer than the name "Nyelâyu", which is used in most of the literature that I can find. @Kwamikagami, thoughts? Theknightwho (talk) 06:26, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

hi @Theknightwho, I agree with you. Nyelâyu is the only spelling used by Académie des langues kanak (but with an error in diacritics), and by the 1989 Nyelâyu grammar by Ozanne-Rivierre (a solid reference). I tried to rename the page (using "move") but it wasn't accepted; I don't know how to proceed otherwise. -- Womtelo (talk) 08:23, 25 June 2024 (UTC).Reply
It's the ISO name, which they presumably got from Ethnologue [I'd need to check old editions], but Ethn. now has Nyelâyu, The other reference we have, McCracken [2013], also uses that spelling, so yes, I'd say let's move the article. — kwami (talk) 09:04, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
The language appears to have been brought in with Ethn. 16 in 2012 under the spelling "Nyâlayu", then changed to "Nyelâyu" with Ethn. 18 in 2015. Ethn. still has "Nyalayu" as an alt spelling. — kwami (talk) 09:15, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
