My name is Matthew C., I am the digital media coordinator for Oaklawn and I am responsible for the accuracy of our information across all digital platforms. Our official name after our expansion in 2010 is "Oaklawn Racing & Gaming"
I would appreciate any assistance with changing this, and I will verify the content on this page to ensure its accuracy.
If you would like to verify this information or reach me then please email webmaster@oaklawn.com

- Hi Matt, I am sending you a welcome message at your talk page, where, first off, I recommend you change your user name, because Wikipedia does not allow corporate accounts. It's a pain for businesses, but I would like to help you out by walking you through the various policies and guidelines. WikiProject Horse racing has some good folks willing to help out as well, but the basic thing is that we require reliable sources for all content, so if you can provide URL links to verify material, that is particularly helpful. That said, wwe als need to be sure to NOT copy and paste straight off your promotional materials (because most are copyrighted and WP cannot plagiarize copyrighted materials in most cases) and the other is to do what you are dong here, which is to disclose your connections and have others look over the content. I'll try to help you the best I can. Montanabw(talk) 02:02, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- For the 2010 name change, can you provide a news story or some outside source? Clearly the website does show the new name, but it's helpful to have a third party source for the 2010 date and such. Local newspaper would be fine, or perhaps if they ran a story in Blood-Horse. Montanabw(talk) 02:08, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you Montanabw! I am very much still in the learning stages but I greatly appreciate the help. My goal is to add objective/factual data with reliable sources. We did not have a news release highlighting the name change however here are two recent articles from local sources. [1] [2] You will also find the full name Oaklawn Racing & Gaming on the Oaklawn.com homepage under the paragraph "Welcome to Oaklawn".

- Hi Mccoldmc! Sorry for the long delay getting back to you, the article title move looks legitimate, so I'll move it. Let me know if there is information you think this article needs, particularly about the history of the track. We are an encyclopedia, not a promotional tool, but we always are glad to improve and expand the encyclopedia. Montanabw(talk) 22:05, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
- Montanabw, you are my new online hero! I have been trying to update our name on Google for 2 months now and it had to be updated here as the two are tied together! I am willing to provide factual well-sourced data and history for you or an editor to approve in the coming months. Please note that my goal here is to correct any false names/dates or info on wikipedia about Oaklawn in order to improve the accuracy of our page. Thank you for helping me do that and I look forward to talking with you in the future. Mccoldmc (talk) 18:47, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
OK. You just might be a good guinea pig here. I'm a little busy on- and off-wiki (I have a real-life job and I'm also trying to take Secretariat's article to good article status) so I'm not in a place where I can put a lot of front line work into this article, but you can do some of the legwork and I am willing to review it. My suggestion is that you propose what you want to add here on this talk page, (even just write it out here as if you were putting it into the article) and I will review it with a neutral eye, make suggestions, and when it is good to go, add it into the article itself. I suggest doing this in small chunks, starting with replacing anything inaccurate that's currently there. Would that work? Montanabw(talk) 20:24, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
Just so you know the problem we face, on Wikipedia we have a lot of genuine problems with puff pieces by undisclosed paid editors, which is never OK (they ban editors and delete articles), but our conflict of interest policy, does allow disclosed interests (like you) to be involved in working on article improvement. The COI "unwritten rules" lean strongly to discouraging people from directly writing articles about their employer or themselves, etc., but don't prohibit it -- the actual rule is kind of fuzzy and is governed by a lot of unwritten rules that around here we call "consensus." (basically, someone argued about it and wrote it down on wiki, somewhere, but good luck finding the page that had the discussion that led to the "consensus.") I'm hoping we can work together here.
