Reunion? False

edit

The band has a super low probability of reuniting. I HIGHLY doubt that they’d actually come back in 2 years’ time 2603:8001:2E07:2D00:1542:78A1:1792:2502 (talk) 22:08, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oasis' worldwide sales records

edit

Is it true that Oasis has sold over 90 million records worldwide? If so, then Oasis should be added to the list of best-selling music artists worldwide. 2601:407:4181:4260:8C55:D86C:6B6E:B6CE (talk) 00:39, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Since Oasis selling over 90 million records worldwide was proven wrong, what about Oasis selling over 70 or 75 million records worldwide, as said by two different sources? I think people who look at this article (like me) are very confused about this. Does anyone know how to erase this confusion over this issue? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:407:4181:4260:810F:EF24:92C8:AAA6 (talk) 01:56, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Already a band called Oasis before them

edit

Was there any legal situation about them using the name, with Peter Skellern already having a band called Oasis? Middle More Rider (talk) 02:34, 23 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I doubt it, not least because nobody remembers Skellern's Oasis. To my understanding there's no actual law to stop two bands having the same name - it just comes down to whether the name's original owners want to sue - and even if they do there's no guarantee that they'll succeed (see for example the Blue vs Blue court case). Possible Oasis reunion announcement (27/08/24)

edit

Should we mention this in the wiki? or just wait until its announced?Umbre04 (talk) 02:06, 26 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Just wait until it's announced. This isn't a news site. Anwegmann (talk) 12:34, 26 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Looks like we have a date now... -89.245.22.1 (talk) 18:08, 26 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Great. We can add content about a reunion if it is officially announced on that day. This changes nothing. Anwegmann (talk) 18:46, 26 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Can you add a year’s active section for 2024 - present Please. Thank you 46.69.114.84 (talk) 17:22, 26 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

No, because the band has not officially announced that they are reforming. This is, indeed, why the page has protection. Anwegmann (talk) 17:27, 26 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Infobox genres

edit

@TheOnlyOne12: How are these genre changes not necessary? I added genres that are supported by reliable sources but I guess five is too many. Maybe we should go with four. I suggest cutting indie rock and just going with Britpop, alternative rock, pop rock, and neo-psychedelia. Bowling is life (talk) 22:24, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Bowling is life: How about this? I'd suggest reducing them down to four genres but restore rock and remove indie and pop rock. TheOnlyOne12 (talk) 19:54, 9 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@TheOnlyOne12: I was thinking maybe we could go with Britpop, alternative rock, pop rock, and neo-psychedelia. Or I guess Rock, Britpop, alternative rock, and neo-psychedelia would work too. Either one would be better than what is included now. Bowling is life (talk) 06:19, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Rather than performing original research, we should point to reliable sources to determine which genres are most often associated with the band. Tkbrett (✉) 17:52, 17 September 2024 (UTC) Edit: I see these genres are sourced in the article's body, so scratch the stupid pointed remark at the start of my comment above. Still, I think we should find general sources here before changing the infobox, since those listed in the article are somewhat arbitrarily ordered. Tkbrett (✉) 17:58, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Oasis Reunion Lineup

edit

I notice Bonehead keeps getting readded to the official member section despite the fact there's no official conformation on this and just speculation in the press, we never updated the Oasis page to say they were back together before it was officially confirmed, so why are we doing it with Bonehead? And if he's being added back to the official members section, then why isn't Gem as what's the difference other than Bonehead being specifically named in the press? Should we agree to keep it as just the Gallagher's until it's been officially confirmed by the band what the line up is? Edandoucho (talk) 09:24, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

yes, the official lineup should be listed at just the brothers until there is any announcement otherwise, I removed Bonehead and Gem from the official members timeline as they were in the touring members timeline (which matches up with what is known so far. TriPiece (talk) 10:50, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Jessica Greenfield? Russel Pritchard? There's really no confirmation they're gonna tour with Oasis, no names were given so far, this is just pure speculation. Bonehead and the High Flying Birds members should be removed from the touring member list and timeline until we get a proper confirmation. 190.21.40.6 (talk) 10:33, 31 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
this isn't speculation, it has been confirmed, please read before you make comments like this TriPiece (talk) 04:58, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Nothing has been confirmed by the band. Are you telling me Jessica Greenfield and Russell Pritchard are confirmed to be in the band? The "source" clearly says that Noel "has brought in some of his band", but we don't know the members yet. If you insist saying they're officially confirmed then show proof. 190.21.35.242 (talk) 05:28, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Change "Oasis are" to "Oasis is" as the band is singular 86.25.194.195 (talk) 20:12, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done We would say "Oasis is" if they were an American band because then we would have to write the article in American English. In American English, bands are treated as singular nouns. Oasis are a British band so we have to write the article in British English. In British English bands are treated as plural. Bowling is life (talk) 15:04, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Since there is a new section that starts in 2024, shouldn't the previous section's last year be changed?— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:36, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
