The name Obama is of Luo language orign and not Swahili at all. It means o- "male" (the female version is Abama), -bama "bent", the bent one, crooked one. It is a very common Luo name and not confined to Muslims. An Al-Arabiya article is not a very good source for etymology. -- MacCambridge (talk) 18:56, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
