user notes
editI was a contract programmer on an IBM-partner banking team using this to prototype (my chosen tool, not a team tool and a very team place with hockey and poker and a final failure both as project and then as corporation.)
I have since left behind the OS/2 machine and only recently left behind the manuals in a attic.
But even as a Smalltalk developer at the time, it had promise, I thought.
In my own work through the mid-nineties I considered my OS/2 Borland C++ environment to be the most useful for compiling large code destined for DOS or Windows ( not OS/2 ! )
It was far more useful than the current IBM Workbench which the VA team turned into Eclipse - a triumph of mediocrity through adoption by those managers who knew no better (the day of the programmer using the best tools and language for the problem are not part of corporate computing - and most graduate programmers do not have a working knowledge of those distantly related languages as exam questions and "projects" do not produce that result.)
