October 20 Pope Pius XII 1939 – Pope Pius XII (pictured) published his first encyclical, Summi Pontificatus, which critiqued ideologies such as racism, cultural superiority and totalitarianism. 1951 – African-American college football player Johnny Bright was the victim of an on-field assault, eventually leading to changes in NCAA football rules that mandated the use of more protective helmets with face guards. 1967 – Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin filmed an unidentified subject, which they claimed was Bigfoot, at Six Rivers National Forest in California. 1984 – The Spanish trawler Sonia sank in British waters after a five-hour chase by the Irish Naval Service patrol vessel Aisling, during which almost 600 shots were fired. 1991 – An earthquake struck the Indian state of Uttarakhand, killing at least 768 people and destroying thousands of homes. Baseball

You seem very adiment about taking off items on a page. a grand slam is a big thing in baseball when it correlates to a postseason win. especially when that win propels them into a major comeback and then a sweep of the world series. its also important because it was 3 years to the date that it last happend. you may not like baseball but that is an important part of the game. you seem to not even care that you take it off becuase you give no reason as to why you remove that entry. -- Agent PY (talk) 13 November 2007

Actually, I'm quite a big fan of the Red Sox. I was even at the parade. The fact is that the particular event is not a record, and is not a globally notable event. One must have an objective view of such events when making a judgment as to global notability. half of all information is trivial. that is what makes it interesting. it gives a chance to look back and see what was in common with certain events. saying something shouldnt be in a wiki becuase it is trivia isnt helping the cause. as for the record it is a part of a record. it is part of the comebacks in postseason. it may not be important to a yankees fan, but a fan of baseball knows its importance. as far as other trivia why would i care about death of some random doctor that won the noble peace prize. but someone does care and it is important to some. I agree that half of the information in Wiki is trivial. That is the point of the Wikicalendar project. Things that go on Wikicalendar articles are meant to be notable to everyone - not just baseball fans. These articles (specifically) are not meant to have trivial items in them. I also agree that the articles are in constant need of cleanup, but there are not many editors dedicated to the project. It seems as though many events from pre-1600 have been dropped from the main page. Today's date provides an example where the siege of Antioch is listed on the main Wikipedia page, yet the event is not listed when one goes to the full page for October 20th.2603:6010:6D00:A24:8961:B055:2A86:7F8A (talk) 12:14, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
